Galatians 1:18-24
That Christ may get glory. – And his work in us may make others glorify God. Verse from Matthew. Matthew 5:16. Let you light shine…. Others give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Paul is continuing the same point that he does not have a teaching that was made by mand and he was taught by Jesus and not man. Only after 3 years did he go to Jerusalem, and meet with Peter for 15 days, and only saw James, the Lord’s brother. (They did not teach him, later most people that are in Christ have not meet Paul).
Paul makes a point of stopping and saying that he is not lying, even as he calls God as witness.
Why would Paul make this up?
(Why do we lie? ) If Lying is a “gospel”. What does lying promise?
In other words, why do we lie? By not telling the truth, I will gain or avoid; what I want. We construct fake/sudo world, deceiving others, for our gain.
Who is that father of lies? What does lying do to us? Oh, but it is not that bad… Oh yes it is…
We might avoid fear, we might what to get out of trouble,
Lying (bearing false witness about God),- and other things will make us slip away from Jesus, the gospel, because God always the same, and Jesus is the truth, so when we/people lie we depart form Jesus, we do it to get or avoided something, but the cost is the gospel, is not being lived out in our life, and we are away from Jesus.
I do think that Paul makes a great point here; we might fool people, but God is not fooled, God knows, even if we get what we want and people don’t know. God knows why we did it.
Lying (and baring false witness), might make people doubt who God is or worse lead people to false teaching or other gospels that lead to death. No, lying and baring false witness it not a gospel, - but being serious as Paul that our life is lived as God sees all we do is a strong encouragement to live it out for God. PPT x2 about Liying.
Paul goes to his home region for sometime and people in the churches in Juda that follow Chris, don’t know Paul but the know about him that, that he preaches the faith that he was trying to destroy, (junk to glory – glory to junk).
And they glorified God, because Paul was changed by Jesus. (Who praised God when you were saved?) Who praised God for what Jesus has done in you?
Did you experience unbelievers praise and thank God for something God did, in/though you? (Nina).
Do we live with God as our witness? And in Christ to worship Jesus, by the Holy Spirt to the glory of God. And live as lights and salt in the world, that others might also see turn, and worship Jesus.
