God Revealed
And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
The main purpose of Christ’s coming was to revel the Father and the way home
“O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me.
I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.”
Man was at war with God!
Sin had ravaged the relationship that he once had, walking in the cool of the garden with His maker!
Jesus is the one who reveals the Father to us. If we want to know what the Father is like, all we have to do is look at Jesus.
If we want to know how the Father cares for people, we can look at how Jesus ministered to them. If we want to know the Father's will for our lives, we can listen to Jesus' words and know they reveal the Father's truth.
Jesus revealed the nature of the Father in his actions and his words. And, Jesus continues to reveal the Father to us. He is the one through whom the fullest revelation of the Father comes. Let's look to Jesus if we really want to know the Father.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ ”
And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
Man’s view of God was as judge and executer!
The law revealed to man how far he had gone from the presence and desires of the Father!
God was continually speaking to man but he was not listening!
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
In the past God spoke through the prophets
The Greek word here means to “enumerate, narrate, reveal, to shout loudly!” The problem was that nobody was listening!
As the prophets of old spoke forth their message, man continually rejected it!
This issues is contrasted by the next verse, “He has spoken to us by His Son!
Jesus became the “living narrative” of the message; a message of grace
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.
And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,
while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
So what is grace really? Is it forgiveness? Is it a gift? Let’s take a look
The word Grace is the word meaning to “delight in something beautiful” The focus os not on the beautiful but rather the delight found in it!
Now we can better understand the heart of God!
Forgiveness isn’t found in the beauty of its receiver but rather in the the heat of God toward the receiver!
Grace is manifested in the giving of forgiveness and the reception of it by the receiver!
It is interesting then to know that the reciprocal response to grace is a changed life! It is an interplay between the gift and the voluntary response by the receiver!
It isn’t under any compulsion or term of acceptance but rather voluntary in nature!
Isn’t that the perfect picture of natural love? It isn’t really qualifiable!
Remember John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
“For God so found delight….”
We were clothed with filthy garments and stunk from the oder of sin yet God found delight in us!
We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.
This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.
We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.
What fullness of joy there is in knowing that God finds delight in you!
The way out of this ness is to believe what God has said about you! Not Facebook, your family, your friends at school…the truth is that God has found delight in you…just as you are!
