Police in New Jersey say a man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving backing his car into a utility pole. David Scarpa turned himself in to authorities the following day and told them he had left the scene of the accident because he did not want to deal with his girlfriend yelling at him. A caller, who reported the accident said he heard yelling, then a loud bang, and discovered debris on the ground afterwards. Scarpa told police he was having an argument with his girlfriend when he put the car into reverse and hit the pole. Police say even though Scarpa turned himself in, he will still have to face the charges.—Jim L. Wilson and Jim Sandell
