Series Text:

Colossians 1:9–10 (NKJV)
9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

This weeks Text:

Matthew 28:18–20 NKJV
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

1. The core of the great commission is the gospel.

Psalm 22:27 NKJV
27 All the ends of the world Shall remember and turn to the Lord, And all the families of the nations Shall worship before You.
We are called to carry the Gospel, (the Good news) what is the good news? Jesus died for our sins reconciling us to God.
We have been saved from our sins!
this salvation is not only for is but also for the sins of the world.
how is this message going to go? we take it.
we take it to people through relationship.

a. one of the best ways to share the gospel is by telling your story (we call that “giving your testimony.”)

1 Chronicles 16:8 NKJV
8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!
The Gospel according to you! this is how you where led to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
people can say that they don't believe in Jesus, but if they say it didn’t happen that way they are calling you a liar.

b. building relationships is why we do the outreaches.

Matthew 10:42 NKJV
42 And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”
at the heart of everything we do to help people is that Jesus loves them.
at the heart of this series is growing up in christ and maturing as a Church is to look more like Jesus and less like the world.
most of the kids we serve on Wednesday night don't have parents that come to Church. we do this to share the gospel of Christ.

these are all the things we do under the command “Go.”

2. Make Disciples of all Nations.

The western world, and our nation in particular is full of a lot of “converts” that are not interested in becoming disciples.
Jesus did not call us to be converts, rather he invited us to be Disciples.
A disciple is a person who has accepted the Lordship of Christ, repented from our sins and set our feet toward living their lives that show gospel truth.
we become students of Jesus, teaching.
and we are to do the things he did:
Of course we cannot die on the cross for the sins of the world. But we can crucify the Flesh.
Galatians 5:24 NKJV
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
We may not be able to multiply bred and fish but we can feed the hungry.
We can comfort those who morn.
we can bind the broken.
we can lift up the hands that hang down,
we can intercede
for those who are burdened.
Nations is ethnos. this is the Greek word that we get our English word ethnicity from.
this doesn't just mean different nations it means people groups.

3. We are teaching them.

Romans 10:14 NKJV
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
how long did it take us to get sober?
now how long did it take you to get a spiritual life?
if you look at yourself today are you still trying to get closer to God?
by show of hands can say today that they didn’t truelove realize how far back you where when you got here till you where here a little while?
how many of us have realized that we still have a lot to learn?
how many of us still need Jesus?
how many of us don’t want to go to be with Jesus today?
how many of us are still humble enough to be taught?
