Research indicates that those who study or work abroad come back with more than a photo album full of memories and a suitcase full of souvenirs. These people may also come back with the ability to think more complexly and creatively and may be more successful at work as a result. The study found that people with international experience or who identify with more than one nationality tend to be better problem solvers and display more creativity. They also tend to be more likely to create new business products and to get important job promotions. While the benefit may depend on how much individuals open themselves to foreign cultures, researchers say people who choose to study and work in other countries may already be inclined to be complex and creative thinkers. --Jim L.
