THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Matthew 7:12–14 (ESV)
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
Matthew 7:12–14 (MSG)
“Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get.
“Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.
HOW, THEN, SHALL WE LIVE?
WHO WILL WE CHOOSE TO BE?
WHOM SHALL WE IMITATE?
Matthew 7:12 (NLT)
“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
THE WORLD’S PATH:
LOOK OUT FOR YOURSELF
DON’T LET PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU
IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU
IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY, DO IT.
THE GOLDEN RULE: (JESUS’ RULE)
DIE TO YOURSELF
TURN THE OTHER CHEEK & GO THE SECOND MILE
IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU
HAPPINESS COMES THROUGH THE CROSS
THE WORLD =
EASY
MANY
DESTRUCTION
CHRIST =
HARD
FEW
LIFE
JESUS OFFERS SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
THE CHURCH OFFERS A DIFFERENT WAY. A BETTER PATH.
Matthew 16:24–26 (ESV)
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
