I. Compromise (vv. 1-4).
Romans 8:18 (NASB-U), “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
2 Corinthians 11:25-28 (NASB-U), “Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent in the deep. I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers among false brethren; I have been in labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. Apart from such external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for all the churches.”
2 Corinthians 12:15 (NASB-U), “I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?”
A. Defamation (vv. 5-9).
B. Deception (vv. 10-14).
James 3:8 (NASB-U), “But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.”
Hebrews 5:13-14 (NASB-U), “For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.”
