Starting Today & Continuing on Wednesday Nights…
We’re Going to Begin a Study on Eschatology
Eschatology = “The Study of Last Things”
What’s Going to Happen in the End Times…
When Jesus Returns…
At/After the Day of the Lord/Judgment?
I Believe the Scriptures Teach What is Called:

“Renewed Eschatology”

In Other Words, When Jesus Returns…
He will Resurrect His People & Bring Fiery Judgment Upon the Earth
Then He will Restore All of Creation…
And the Righteous will Live Forever in that Renewed Creation
Some have Misunderstood Me to Say:
“I Don’t Believe in Heaven & Hell”
That is Not at All What I’ve Said or Believe
I Believe in Heaven
Heaven is the Realm Where Jesus is Presently Sitting at the Right hand of God…
Ruling Over Heaven & Earth
I Don’t Believe the Scriptures Teach that We are Going to Heaven When Jesus Returns
Instead, I Believe They Teach that Heaven is Going to Come to Us
I Don’t Believe You have to Agree with Me on this
There are Some Things that I Call “Non-Negotiables”
Some Things We Must Agree Upon
The Exact Nature of the Age to Come & Eternal Life…
Is Not One of Those Things
There’s Nothing Wrong with Disagreeing with Me on this…
But if You Do…
You’re Disagreement Better Be Based on Scripture
I’m Tired of the Traditionalism in the Church
Believing Something Simply Because:
That’s What We’ve Always Been Taught
People We Respect Believe it
How can We Tell Others to Look Past Their Traditions…
And Simply Examine the Scriptures…
When We’re Unwilling to Do the Same?
Wednesday Night, I Quoted Several Men Throughout History…
Who Held to the Belief that Creation would Be Renewed/Restored
My Point:
This is Not a New Belief
It’s Been Around Since Before Jesus was on Earth

What Renewed Eschatology Is Not

It is Not Premillennialism
Premillennialism Deals with What Happens Before Jesus’ Return
Renewed Eschatology Deals with What Happens When Jesus Returns
It is Not Jehovah’s Witness Eschatology
There is a Concept Called “Reactive Theology”
It’s the Impulse to Shy Away from Views…
That Might Be Held By Person or Group…
That We Generally Don’t Agree with
Reactive Theology is a Terrible Way to Search for Truth
If the Scriptures Teach it…
It shouldn’t Matter What Person or Group Agrees or Disagrees
All that should Matter is Properly Interpreting the Scriptures
But, Besides that, if You were to Study the Jehovah’s Witness Eschatological Beliefs…
You’d Find it to Be a Whole Lot Different than What the Bible Describes
It is Not about What Happens When We Die

Why Does This Matter?

First & Foremost, Truth Always Matters
Just Because it isn’t a Salvation Issue…
Doesn’t Mean it Doesn’t Matter
If Something is True & Scriptural…
Then We should Seek to Know & Hold to it
And I Think Our Eternal Hope is Something We Need to Know
Having a Scriptural Eschatological Hope…
Helps Us Better Understand the Story of Scripture
We would All Agree that the Bible Tells the Story of Redemption
Renewed Eschatology Fits Perfectly in that Summary Theme
God is Redeeming All Things to Himself
Renewed Eschatology Helps You Better Understand the Scriptures
Every Book, Chapter, & Verse Makes More Sense…
When They are Read with the Understanding of the Grander Narrative
God Made a Good Creation
We Messed it Up By Listening to Satan & Surrendering to Sin
God is Going to Redeem All Things in the End
Understanding the Beginning & the End of the Story…
Helps Us Better Understand the Rest of it
Much of the Story Become Pretty Confusing…
When You have the Wrong Ending in Mind

Any Questions?

There’s a Lot of Talk Going on…
But Only 2 People have Come to Me…
And Calmly Asked Me for Further Explanations
