Psalm 64:7–10 ESV
7 But God shoots his arrow at them; they are wounded suddenly. 8 They are brought to ruin, with their own tongues turned against them; all who see them will wag their heads. 9 Then all mankind fears; they tell what God has brought about and ponder what he has done. 10 Let the righteous one rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult!
Isaiah 54:1–8 ESV
1 “Sing, O barren one, who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her who is married,” says the Lord. 2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. 3 For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left, and your offspring will possess the nations and will people the desolate cities. 4 “Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. 5 For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called. 6 For the Lord has called you like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when she is cast off, says your God. 7 For a brief moment I deserted you, but with great compassion I will gather you. 8 In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord, your Redeemer.
Song of Solomon 6:1–3 ESV
1 Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Where has your beloved turned, that we may seek him with you? 2 My beloved has gone down to his garden to the beds of spices, to graze in the gardens and to gather lilies. 3 I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he grazes among the lilies.
Introduction
The Shulamite has been frantically searching for her husband. Her friends questioned why he was so special. She has answered in the most glowing terms. Her description and evident love for him has changed the attitude of the friends they now want to find him.
When a believer truly expresses love for Christ it causes others to react. Hopefully this is in a very positive way.

The seeking and finding of Christ is the true and high end of all spiritual duties, in which the whole of his church should be engaged; without him they remain empty. Richard Brooks

Let Christians not be reticent or backward either in speaking with one another about Christ or proclaiming his fullness of grace to sinners. The fire of love to Christ needs to burn ever more brightly and warmly. If we would be of any use in commending Christ to others (whether they are believers or unbelievers), we must be in earnest about him ourselves. Richard Brooks
