If I’m not mistaken, there was a rather popular movie that came out somewhat recently called, “Oppenheimer.” It did rather well at the Oscars recently, willing the Academy Awards for:
Best Picture
Best Director
Best Actor
Best Supporting Actor
Best Binematography
Best Editing
Best orginial score
I haven’t seen it, but I do believe that it is centered on the man J. Robert Oppenheimer (aa·puhn·hai·mr) who directed the Manhattan Project’s Los Alamos Lab During the second World War. He is often referred to as the “Father of the Atomic Bomb.”
As a result of the work of Oppenheimer and many others, it was quickly apparent that rifles were not much use in an atomic war. To compete effectively in a war, you want to have the same or a superior class of weapons.
Let’s read from God’s Word
18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. 21 So that you also may know how I am and what I am doing, Tychicus the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord will tell you everything. 22 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage your hearts. 23 Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with love incorruptible.
Together in Christ has taken us from September 7th, 2023 until today; 19 sermons in all. Here’s what I hope you’ve gotten from the series on the New Testament book that Paul authored;
That being “In Christ” is the greatest thing that could ever happen to your or me.
That being a part of the church, that is, “in Christ Together,” is the only way to obediently live the Christian life.
That good works apart from Union with Christ is just human effort
That union with Christ always will lead to good works
That we are living in a world that has spiritual realities that we cannot see, and must fight with the proper class of weapons, namely the Word of God and the prayers of the saints.
Keep alert (Ephesians 6:18 “ keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”
to lie awake Pss 102:7
7 I lie awake; I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop.
1 Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
What keeps you up at night? Do your finances, childhood trauma, fear about the future, or paranoia cause you to be sleepless? Well, instead of being paranoid, try praying. When you’re perturbed about politics, or have phobia about the future, try petitioning the Father.
