A manual of effective prayer and fasting to defeat the enemy

There is a story in the Bible of how Christ's disciples battled with a spiritual problem they could not solve. A boy had a demon in him and they couldn't get it out. However, when Jesus arrived at the scene, He cast it out immediately. Thereafter, His disciples asked Him why they couldn't cast it out. Here's how He replied:

Matthew 17:20–21 “20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

This confirms that the pair of fasting and prayer is "dual use spiritual weapon”. That is, you can use the pair of phenomena to solve spiritual problems (or negative issues) and at the same time, you can use it to provoke divine encounters, intervention and blessings.

SPIRITUAL PREPARATION FOR THIS PROGRAM

1 Corinthians 9:24 “24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”

CONNECTING WITH THE ANSWERER OF PRAYERS

Romans 10:9–10 “9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

The first step in getting your prayers answered is connecting with the person who will answer them. In Christianity, this "connecting" is referred to as "giving your life to Jesus". It involves the complete surrender of your thoughts, your deeds, spirit, soul and body to Jesus for Him to govern. In return, you get all the benefits of God's kingdom — He will take up responsibility for your daily life, your protection and the protection of your possessions. He will fill your mind with wisdom and understanding, become responsible for your health and if you desire it, make you prosper. Most importantly per this book, He will give you a listening ear and answer your prayers. This section gives you the opportunity to give your life to Jesus Christ so you can start enjoying all the associated benefits.

PRAYERS

If you are ready to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, read these words both in your heart first and then out loud with your mouth:

1. Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God, who created the universe.

2. I believe in my heart that God gave You up and sent You to this earth to die for my sins.

3. I believe that after you died, God the Father raised You from the grave and brought You back to life.

4. I declare that You are the Lord! And so today, I hand my life over to You for You to become the Lord of it.

5. All my thoughts, words and deeds, I lay plainly before You to be totally responsible for.

6. You have said in Your word that if I open the door of my life to You, You will come in. Therefore, I open my heart to You today.

7. I invite you in to come and become the Lord of my life.

8. Come Lord Jesus and take total control of my life.

9. Come Jesus and become my personal Lord and Savior.

10. Thank You for accepting me and giving me the assurance of eternal life.

With these words spoken in your heart and confessed with your mouth, you have given your life to Jesus Christ. You are now what is known as a born-again christian with full rights to the benefits of the kingdom of God.

FORGIVE ALL WHO HAVE OFFENDED YOU

Matthew 6:14–15 “14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

The Bible clearly says that if you cannot forgive others, God will not forgive your own sins. And you should know that if God does not forgive your sins, He will not answer your prayers. It's like asking for more loans when you are already so deep in debt. You should first clear your debts before asking for more help. Therefore, if you want to get results using this program, forgiving others is the next step you need to take. This section is to deal with the issue of forgiving those who have offended you so that your prayers are not hindered.

PRAYERS

1. Almighty God, in complete obedience to Your word, I come before You to forgive all those who have offended me.

2. My Father, _______ (mention the offender's name) did the following to me _______ (tell God the offense committed against you by the person and repeat for all persons who have offended you).

3. O Lord, according to Your word, from the bottom of my heart, I forgive _______ (mention the offender's name), in the name of Jesus.

4. O Lord, I sincerely release ______ and henceforth I dissolve all grudges I hold against _______, in the name of Jesus. (Replace gaps with the person's name)

5. Everlasting Father, by Your grace and mercy, compensate me for all the wrongs that have been done against me, in the name of Jesus.

6. Father, henceforth, give me spiritual strength so that no day will go by with anger against another person still burning in my heart, in the name of Jesus.

7. My Lord and my God, do not let the devil use unforgiveness as an instrument to gain a foothold in my life. Before the sun sets every day, let me successfully discharge myself of all hurts done against me, in the name of Jesus.

8. Holy Spirit, permanently build up in me an uncommon ability to immediately forgive and overlook offenses committed against me, in the name of Jesus.

9. Now, I command any seed of the devil that may have already entered into my life as a result of my unforgiveness in the past to be cast out and to die. Any door that unforgiveness may have opened in my life to the devil and his demons, I slam you shut forever, in the name of Jesus.

10. Father God, look upon my sincerity, which I have shown by saying these prayers in my heart and with my mouth and be merciful unto me. Do not let my prayers in this program be hindered by reason of unforgiveness. Instead, let my forgiving heart win me favor before You so that I can get my prayers answered, in Jesus' mighty name, amen.

OBTAIN FORGIVENESS FOR YOUR OWN SINS

Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:9, Isaiah 1:18 (NIV) "Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper... If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness... Come now, let us settle the matter, says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.’"

Even though you forgive everyone who offends you but you do not confess and forsake your own sins, the Bible says that you may not prosper. Basically, the prayers of a sinner cannot be answered by heaven. The only prayer from a sinner that is heard in heaven is the prayer of forgiveness. This section is for you if you are ready to confess and forsake all your sins according to the word of God. If you do this, you will be in right standing with the Almighty. Right standing with God opens the door to all possibilities.

PRAYERS

1. Almighty God, in complete obedience to your word, I come before You to confess my sins and to ask that You forgive all of them.

2. Everlasting Father, I confess that I _________________ . [Replace the gap with the sin you have committed. Repeat for each sin.)

3. I declare today that from the bottom of my heart, I repent of and forsake the sin of __________ . O God forgive me, in the name of Jesus. [Replace the gap with the sin you have committed. Repeat for each sin.)

4. O Lord, give me the force of habit and character so that all the sins I have forsaken today will remain permanently forsaken, in the name of Jesus.

5. Eternal King, wash me with the Blood of the Lamb so that my life which is like scarlet can become as white as snow, in the name of Jesus.

6. Great Redeemer, save me so that my life which is as red as crimson will become like wool, in the name of Jesus.

7. Almighty God, I ask that You minister into the heart of _____________ today, so that ____________ can forgive me, in the name of Jesus. (Replace gap with the name of the person you offended)

8. O Lord, I want to reconcile with ___________. Therefore Lord, give me favor before __________ so that the next time we speak, my apology will be accepted, in the name of Jesus. (Replace gap with the name of the person you offended)

9. Now, I command any seed of the devil that may have already entered into my life by reason of my sins to be cast out and to die. Any door that sin may have opened in my life to the devil and his demons, I slam you shut forever, in the name of Jesus.

10. Thank You Jehovah God for answering my prayers and for giving me peace, in Jesus' mighty name, amen.

PUT ON THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD

Ephesians 6:10–18 “10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of pra…”

Whenever you want to carry out serious, life-changing prayers, you need to gear up. In the spirit, this requires that you put on what Apostle Paul referred to as the "Full Armor of God". The armor will protect you from spiritual attacks. This is especially important as you embark on this program. If you want to be protected from any attack of the enemy, this section contains the prayers that can help you.

PRAYERS

1. O God, Your word says Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Today, I put on the belt of truth, in the name of Jesus.

2. My Father, Your word says that Jesus bore my sins on the cross so that I can die to sin and live for righteousness. Today, I put on the breastplate of righteousness and my heart is completely protected, in the name of Jesus.

3. Lord Jesus, You said in Your word that You have left Your peace with me and You have given me Your peace. Today, I put on my divine shoes of peace. With them, I trample upon and smash to pieces any evil assigned against my agenda, in the name of Jesus.

4. Everlasting Father, Your word says that without faith, it is impossible to please You and that You reward all those who believe in and earnestly seek You. Therefore, I hold up my shield of faith today and I declare that no fiery dart or bullet of the enemy, aimed at my heart, shall prevail against me, in the name of Jesus.

5. Almighty God, Your word commands that I should be transformed by the renewing of my mind. Today, I put on my helmet of salvation. I decree that, by reason of this helmet, no spiritual sword strike of the enemy shall prosper against me. No thought of confusion shall take hold in my head. Instead, I shall enjoy a transformed mind by reason of the constant renewal of my mind. My faith in the Almighty is unshakeable now and forever, in the name of Jesus.

6. I take up the Sword of the Spirit, the word of the Lord. With it, I defeat the enemy and put all his hosts to flight. They are fleeing and I am winning, in the name of Jesus.

7. My God, as I embark on this prayer program today and as I pray with my understanding, let me also pray in the Spirit. Let my spirit speak mysteries to You about my life that even I myself cannot fathom. O Lord, hear the utterances of my spirit so that my breakthrough can come swiftly, in the name of Jesus.

8. As I go into the battlefield of the spirit, I go knowing that, according to the word of the Lord, greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world, in the name of Jesus.

9. I decree and declare that my victory in this fasting and prayer program is assured and I shall get what I pray for, in the name of Jesus.

10. Thank You Most High God for answering all my prayers, in Jesus' mighty name, amen.

FASTING FORTITUDE

Daniel 10:2-3 (NIV) “At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.”

During Daniel's fast, here's what happened:

Daniel 10:10-12 “A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. He said, 'Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.' And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling. Then he continued, 'Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.'”

The 21-day fasting and prayer program Daniel embarked upon provoked the physical appearance of an angel to deliver the answer. According to the passage we just read, the fasting was interpreted by Heaven as a “humbling of himself [Daniel] before God.” So how did he do it? During the twenty one days, he ate no “choice” food, no meat, no wine and he did not use any lotions on his body. What does this mean for you? It means, if you decide to adopt Daniel’s fast for this book's fasting and prayer program, you will also have to do likewise. You will need to cut out, for the duration of the program, any food you consider to be delicious or any drink you consider to be sweet and eat only basic food (such as unsweetened bread, plain vegetables, etc.) and essentially drink only water. Also, in addition to the restricted diet, you should wait till at least your lunch hour before breaking your fast for the day. If you can go beyond lunch hour (till say 2 p.m.), better. The longer you deny your flesh of pleasure, the better. Before breaking, read the scriptures and do the prayers that have been set aside for each day. When you pray, be focused, aggressive and give it all you've got! Be determined to move the hand of God so that He can effect the change you seek in your life. Finally, before adopting Daniel's fast, if you are not sure of your capacity to handle it, it is advisable to consult your doctor to confirm whether or not you are fit enough to do a fast. This is quite important. The prayers in this section are for fortitude to successfully begin and end the fasting component of this program.

PRAYERS

1. Almighty God, because of the issues in my life, I have decided to embark on this fasting and prayer program. Help me, give me the fortitude to begin and end it successfully, in the name of Jesus.

2. O God, despite the wealth, status and power that Daniel had, he had the discipline to humble himself before You and to forgo delicious food and sweet drinks for a season. Today, I ask that You give me that same grace to forgo pleasure so that I can successfully seek Your face, in the name of Jesus.

3. Throughout the duration of this program, I voluntarily disconnect myself from all unnecessary pleasures so that I can concentrate on the matter of my life that is at hand, in the name of Jesus.

4. You my imagination and my appetite, listen to me, throughout this program, you are not permitted to do your own bidding. You shall do my bidding, in the name of Jesus.

5. I place my eyes, nose, ears, mouth, stomach, hands and feet under forceful discipline and I subdue them under the command of my will throughout this program, in the name of Jesus.

6. As I eat basic food and drink water for the duration of this program, my God, let my body understand what is at stake and let it cooperate. Let my spirit, soul and body be united and committed to doing what it takes to provoke the fulfillment of my divine desires, in the name of Jesus.

7. Father, take control of my vicinity. Any unwitting or witting attempt by anything or any person around me to tempt me and to derail my participation in this program in any way, shape or form, shall not succeed, in the name of Jesus.

8. By the mercy and grace of the living God, I will not commit any sin throughout this program that will thwart my program, in the name of Jesus.

9. Everlasting Father, let my prayers be answered and let the reasons for which I have voluntarily entered into this program become manifest, in the name of Jesus.

10. At the end of this program, O God, let me stand tall in victory, having received answers to my prayers, in Jesus' mighty name, amen.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Psalm 100:4 "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name."

WORDS OF PRAISE

As you say these words, concentrate. Visualize yourself in the presence of the Almighty God and speak to Him with all the sincerity you can muster. Remember, He is the creator of everything that exists including you. He made you and He is the only one that can answer your prayers. No one else can do that beside Him. You can repeat each of these lines as many times as you want or read through the entire list and repeat it as many times as you wish.

1. There is none like You O God.

2. You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

3. You are the Most High and I worship You.

4. You are highly lifted up. No one is up to You.

5. You are the I am that I am. Lord be lifted high and be glorified forever and ever.

6. Lord I bless you. The sun, moon and stars praise You.

7. All of creation praises You, O Lord.

8. All the angels and all of Heaven praise You O Lord.

9. I bow before You because You are Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent.

10. Lord I adore You because You are all-powerful, You have all knowledge and You are everywhere. My whole trust is in You, O God.

11. You are the Alpha and Omega - the beginning and the ending.

12. You are the One who is, the One who was, the One who is to come.

13. Ancient of Days, I praise You.

14. You are the Rock of Ages and there is no one else beside You.

15. I magnify your Holy Name and I adore You O Lord.

16. You are the only one whose love endures forever. I bless You.

17. You are worthy to be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.

18. Lord, receive all my praises, glory, honor and adoration.

19. You are a marvelous God. What a mighty God I serve.

20. You are worthy to be praised and You are worthy to be glorified. Be exalted forever O Lord, in Jesus name.

WORDS OF THANKSGIVING

Before you read out these words of thanksgiving, take a moment to thank God for yourself for all the good things He has done for you recently. Think about all these good things. Be plain and thank Him from the bottom of your heart with sincere gratitude. You can repeat each of these lines as many times as you want or read through the entire list and repeat it as many times as you wish.

1. Take a moment and recall every good thing that God has done in your life or in your family in recent times and thank Him for each of those things.

2. Lord, I thank You for Your Righteousness, Your Holy Name and Your mighty deeds.

3. Father, I thank You for sending Your son—the Lord Jesus Christ—to die for my sins.

4. Father, I thank You for raising Him up from the grave and for giving me the assurance of eternal life.

5. I thank You for Your marvelous and wondrous works.

6. Thank You Lord because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

7. I thank You for Your counsel upon my life and for the instructions You pass to me even through dreams which guide my path.

8. I thank You for the hope I have in You.

9. Lord I thank You for saving my soul and for redeeming me from the fires of hell.

10. Thank You for letting me into Your presence because therein is fullness of joy.

11. Thank You because each time I am in distress and I call upon You, You listen to my cry.

12. Thank You for being my strength and for saving me from the hands of my enemies.

13. Thank You for delivering me from trouble and from the hands of death.

14. Thank You for Your great and merciful kindness toward me and Your compassion upon me.

15. Thank You for loading me with benefits every single day of my life.

16. I thank You for Your Power that can never fail.

17. Thank You for Your promise to always answer me when I call.

18. Thank You because You are my rock, my fortress and my deliverer. In You I take refuge. You are my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I bless You.

19. Thank You for Your promise to meet all my needs according to the riches of Your glory in Christ Jesus.

20. I bless You O Lord. Accept all my thanks and praises in Jesus name.

P.U.S.H — PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS

James 5:16 (KJV) "...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." The word "fervent" means to have or to display passionate intensity. So, the Bible is saying that if you want results, when you pray, have or display passionate intensity during that prayer. A person engrossed in prayer will not think about any other thing except the prayer. This is the mentality you should have if this prayer program is to work for you.

A good example of someone who displayed this kind of intensity was Elijah. There was a drought in Israel and Elijah wanted to terminate the drought and unleash rain. Here's what the Bible says about how he prayed "And Elijah said to Ahab, 'Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.' So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees." (1 Kings 18:41-42, NIV)). Talk about total focus!

Further, the Bible tells us that the first time Elijah, the great prophet, prayed, nothing happened — "'Go and look toward the sea,' he told his servant. And he went up and looked. 'There is nothing there,' he said. Seven times Elijah said, 'Go back.' The seventh time the servant reported, 'A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.'" He had to go through seven prayer sessions before he got the answer he was looking for. In other words, he "pushed". Elijah prayed until something happened.

Just like Elijah, whenever you are using this prayer program, you will need to display passionate intensity, complete focus and pray until something happens. If you do all this, your prayers will be answered and the Almighty will overcompensate you.

SECTION 1 (DAY 1 - 10): NULLIFYING DIVERSE KINDS OF SPIRITUAL ATTACKS AND PROBLEMS

Section 1 - Nullifying Diverse Kinds of Spiritual Attacks and Problems.

DAY 1 - DISGRACING THE SPIRIT OF PENINNAH

"Peninnah, her rival, would torment and humiliate her, because the Lord had kept her childless. This went on year after year; whenever they went to the house of the Lord, Peninnah would upset Hannah so much that she would cry and refuse to eat anything." — 1 Samuel 1:6-7 (GNT)

BACKGROUND

A man called Elkanah was married to two women — Hannah and Peninnah. Peninnah had children but Hannah had none. Hannah became the target of Peninnah's attacks because of her barrenness. The Bible gives us considerable detail about the operations of the spirit that lived inside of Peninnah as well as its impact on the life of Hannah prior to her deliverance. Although Hannah's challenge or inability was in the area of childbearing, for other persons, the operations of the spirit of Peninnah can extend to similar situations wherein a person is unable to deliver or bring to fruition an expectation. Therefore, everyone is a potential target of this spirit.

Today, we will briefly examine the characteristics of this spirit so that you can use the knowledge gained to disgrace it and deal with it permanently in your own life. If you are not yet its victim, there are prevention prayers to pray so that its attacks will never prosper against you. On the other hand, if you are already under the attack of this spirit in your nuclear family, extended family, school, workplace, community, etc. and if you can already see the manifestation of its consequences in your life, rest assured that as you pray the reversal and nullification prayers in this chapter, you will receive your deliverance, in the name of Jesus.

CHARACTERISTICS

1. The spirit of Peninnah can attack you if there is an inability, an inadequacy or an unmet need in your life. (1 Samuel 1:2)

2. It usually manifests itself through people who may not be as good as you are but who nevertheless do not have the inability, inadequacy or unmet need that you have. (1 Samuel 1:2)

3. It is a wicked spirit. (1 Samuel 2:9)

4. It is a beefy and strong spirit. (1 Samuel 2:5,10)

5. It is your enemy. (1 Samuel 2:1)

6. It is boastful, talks proudly and its mouth speaks arrogance. (1 Samuel 2:3)

7. It is a warrior who has bows with which it shoots arrows at its victims. (1 Samuel 2:4)

8. Its main assignment is to severely mock, provoke, irritate, torment and humiliate. (1 Samuel 1:6)

9. Its provocation is unrelenting and will not stop until something drastic is done. (1 Samuel 1:7)

10. You can overcome the spirit of Peninnah if you are in the presence of the Lord. (1 Samuel 1:9)

11. The spiritual weapons of choice to permanently defeat the spirit of Peninnah are prayers, vows and the blessing of peace. (1 Samuel 1:10-11, 17)

12. The provocations by the hand of the spirit of Peninnah introduce sorrow and weeping and will cause its victim to perpetually lose appetite or any interest in eating. (1 Samuel 1:7-8)

13. The spirit of Peninnah shoots arrows of depression into the lives of its victims. (1 Samuel 1:8)

14. It unleashes anguish, distress, bitterness and grief into the lives of its victims. (1 Samuel 1:10,16)

15. It is a harbinger of misery, sorrow and affliction. (1 Samuel 1:11)

16. It is an administrator and maintainer of deep discouragement and trouble. (1 Samuel 1:15)

17. Through provocation, mockery and taunting, it silences the mouths of its victims. (1 Samuel 2:1)

18. Its presence in a person’s life causes the manifestation of emotional hunger and starvation. (1 Samuel 2:5)

19. It causes its victims to lose strength and to stumble. (1 Samuel 2:4)

20. It forces people to behave in ways that may appear erratic to others. (1 Samuel 1:12-14)

21. It subdues the ‘horn’ of the lives of its victims and covers up their glory. (1 Samuel 2:1)

22. It pushes people into the dust and the ash heap of life and can retain them there perpetually. (1 Samuel 2:8)

Are you currently a target of a personality with these characteristics in your family, school, workplace, community, etc.? Or would you like to protect yourself from being a target? Also, are you currently experiencing any of the consequences listed above in your life or would you like to prevent them from manifesting in your life? If yes, get yourself ready for prayers.

PRAYERS TO DISGRACE THE SPIRIT OF PENINNAH

NOTE: There are two sections of prayer depending on your situation. If this spirit of Peninnah is already at work in your life, pray the "reverse" prayers in the section immediately below. On the other hand, if you have not yet been affected by this spirit, you should pray the "prevent" prayers in the second section.

PRAYERS TO REVERSE AND NULLIFY THE MANIFESTATIONS OF THE SPIRIT OF PENINNAH

1. Heavenly Father, I thank You for the privilege of prayer and for the assurance that You shall answer me. Accept my thanks, in the name of Jesus.

2. Like Hannah, who called unto You in the temple, I am here today in Your presence. Show me the path of life and cause me to benefit from the fullness of joy that is always in Your presence, in the name of Jesus.

3. Everlasting Father, this is the inability, inadequacy and unmet need that is in my life: _____________ (tell God what it is). Help me to deal with it once and for all, in the name of Jesus.

4. O Lord, by reason of __________ (your problem), my enemy has become boastful, talks proudly and speaks arrogantly against me. Arise Lord and deliver me, in the name of Jesus.

11. King of kings, let the mouth of the spirit of Peninnah speaking relentlessly against me be closed and let it remain silenced forever. Let the expectation of the spirit of Peninnah against me be disappointed. Let all the evil prophecies and declarations made against me through the utterances of the spirit of Peninnah be reversed and be converted into blessings for my good, in the name of Jesus.

12. Now, you spirit of Peninnah assigned against my life, your time is up! With fetters of fire that can never be broken, I bind you and I command you: Depart forever and ever, in the name of Jesus.

DAY 2 - DEFEATING SANBALLAT, TOBIAH AND GESHEM

"When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel." — Nehemiah 2:10 (KJV)

BACKGROUND

The Babylonians, amongst other things, invaded Judah and took many of the Jews away to Babylon as slaves. In the process, they left Jerusalem in ruins. Later, the Babylonians themselves were defeated and dominated by the Persians. The Persians allowed the Jews to return to their country. One of the top Israelites in the Persian civil service was a man called Nehemiah. He was the king's cupbearer and therefore very influential. He received reports from Jewish returnees which revealed to him how ruined their homeland had become. The man was moved and decided that he had to take action. His aim was to rebuild the city and its temple. But first, he had to rebuild its wall. It was at this point that Sanballat (a Samaritan), Tobiah (an Ammonite) and Geshem (an Arabian) rose up in staunch opposition to the planned projects of Nehemiah. These were antisemitic administrators of other provinces who wanted the ruinous status quo of the Jewish homeland to be maintained. The Bible gives us some detail about the operations of the spirit that lived inside of these men as well as the effect that it had and could have had on Nehemiah and his people. Although, the spirit of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem attacked Nehemiah's city restoration project, for other persons, it can come against any effort to make progress. Are you planning to go to college? Are you planning to buy a home or to build one? Are you planning to get married? Are you planning to have kids? Are you planning to start a new business? Do you desire a promotion? Do you want to run for public office? Whatever it is, be aware that there is something called the spirit of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem which can launch a robust opposition against you in order to block the manifestation of your desires.

CHARACTERISTICS

1. It is always unhappy and disturbed and filled with grief whenever it hears that you are about to start a project or that you are about to enjoy some kind of benefit. (Nehemiah 2:10)

2. It is always angry and greatly incensed whenever it finds out that you are actually making progress. It wants you to remain in a state of ruin or at best, in a state of stagnancy. (Nehemiah 4:1)

3. It is a wicked mocker and ridiculer of people’s desires and plans. (Nehemiah 2:19)

4. It always berates the hard work of its victims. (Nehemiah 4:2)

5. It is an agent of public disgrace. (Nehemiah 4:2)

6. It maliciously questions the wisdom of one’s actions. (Nehemiah 4:2)

7. It curses and speaks destruction to the efforts of its victims. (Nehemiah 4:3)

8. It is an insulting spirit. (Nehemiah 4:4-5)

9. It is an agent of intimidation. (Nehemiah 6:13)

10. It can force its victims into committing sin. (Nehemiah 6:13)

11. It plots violence and stirs up trouble against people making progress. (Nehemiah 4:7-8)

12. It threatens its victims with death. (Nehemiah 4:11)

13. It is a lying spirit. (Nehemiah 6:1-4)

14. It lures its victims to secret places where they can be put to death. (Nehemiah 6:1-4)

15. It can use false accusations to ruin the lives of its victims. (Nehemiah 4:5-7)

16. It can make real prophets utter false and evil prophecies against its victims (including prophecies of death). (Nehemiah 6:10-12)

17. Its major aim is to put an end to the work of its victims. (Nehemiah 4:11)

18. You can overcome this spirit by having total faith in God and not displaying fear. (Nehemiah 4:14)

19. This spirit becomes paralyzed when you pray prayers for the strengthening of your own hands and for the frustration of the evil plans of your enemy. (Nehemiah 4:15, 6:9)

NOTE: These consequences are all derived from the Book of Nehemiah.

20. It uses insults, ridicule, mockery, etc. to introduce discouragement into the life of its victims.

21. It brings shame into the lives of its victims.

22. It is an agent of perpetual fear and intimidation. Through threats, it introduces fear into the lives of its victims.

23. It makes its victims live in a state of constant apprehension.

24. It forces its victims to make changes to their lives that are uncomfortable or inconvenient (such as standing guard day and night).

25. It wastes the resources of its victims by forcing them to spend their resources on items other people are not bothered about.

26. Through false accusations, it makes its victims lose the favor of influential people.

27. It gives its victims a bad name.

28. It causes its victims to lose credibility before others.

29. It consistently weakens its victims psychologically until they abandon their divinely-ordained ideas, desires and projects.

30. It wants you to stop making progress.

31. If nothing is done quickly, it can arrange for the death of its victims.

1. Eternal Father, this morning I declare that since You are for me, no one can and shall stand against me any longer, in the name of Jesus.

2. Almighty God, I am on the earth to fulfill my divine destiny. Help me. Let any evil obstruction prepared against my destiny by the spirit of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem, scatter, in the name of Jesus.

3. Holy Spirit of God, I confess that powerful forces working against me have made me lose heart and have caused me to abandon my plans and projects. Therefore, just as You did for Nehemiah, fill me with the spirit of boldness so that I can acquire the zeal to start again and to power through the fulfillment of my agenda, in the name of Jesus.

4. My God, this is the project I have abandoned ___________ (your project). Help me to kickstart it so that I can bring it to fruition and completion, in the name of Jesus.

16. My Father, I confess that I have been lured by the spirit of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem to a place of death. Now Lord, come to my aid and rescue me from this place, in the name of Jesus.

17. Any evil prophecy that has been spoken into my life by a hired prophet for no just cause, be nullified now! All consequences of all evil prophecies issued against me, be reversed now and be converted into blessings for my sake! in the name of Jesus.

18. Any arrow of discouragement and shame fired into my life by the spirit of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem, I command you: Come out now, be broken and be burnt to ashes, in the name of Jesus.

23. Lord, let my name and my credibility that may have been negatively affected because of the activities of the spirit of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem, receive divine repair and restoration, in the name of Jesus.

24. By the power of the Holy Ghost, I take charge of my senses and my mentality. Any psychological damage that has been done to me by the spirit of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem in order to get me to abandon my divinely-ordained ideas, desires and projects, be reversed by fire, in the name of Jesus.

25. O God, do not let me any longer be conformed to the words and deeds of the spirit of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem. Instead, cause me to be transformed by the renewing of my mind so that I may do what is good, acceptable, perfect and in accordance with Your will for my life. Therefore, I decree and declare that by reason of my transformed mind, instead of abandoning my plans and projects, I shall power through to their manifestation, in the name of Jesus.

26. I condemn any tongue that has arisen against me in judgment and I decree that any weapon fashioned against that has so far prospered, shall be destroyed, in the name of Jesus.

DAY 3 KILL YOUR GOLIATH

Choose for yourselves a man so he may come down to me! If he is able to fight with me and strike me down, we will become your servants. The spirit of Goliath represents any situation or personality that is bigger than you and wants to dominate and enslave you.

Examine yourself, is there something or someone around you that wants to dominate you or convert you into a slave? Do you want to launch out and establish yourself in your career or business but someone else only wants you to serve them forever? Is someone stifling your potentials in some way? If yes, you should know that you are dealing with the spirit of Goliath and you need divine rescue.

DAY 4 DELIVERANCE FROM THE SIEGE OF SENNACHERIB

“Do not listen to Hezekiah, for he is misleading you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’ Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand? Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the Lord deliver Jerusalem from my hand?” — 2 Kings 18:32-35 (NIV)

The spirit of Sennacherib represents any personality that wants to make you its permanent subordinate, that likes to reap where it did not sow, that has nothing tangible to offer and that only always wants to take from you.

If it does not get what it wants, it is willing to unleash total carnage on its victim. If there is or if there might be someone in your life who fits this description, it means you might be under the attack of the spirit of Sennacherib.

CHARACTERISTICS

1. It is the spirit of the slave-master. (2 kings 18:31-32)

2. It is a spirit that raises its voice and lifts its eyes in pride. (2 Kings 19:22)

3. It is a spirit that believes in its past, wicked achievements. (2 Kings 19:23-24)

4. It is a spirit that makes demands of its victims. (2 Kings 18:14-16)

5. It speaks words whose sole intent are to make weak and to discourage. (2 Kings 18:28-35)

6. It also sends grievous threats via letters. (2 Kings 19:9-14)

7. It is a spirit of ridicule. (2 Kings 19:4)

13. I declare today that the siege of Sennacherib upon my life is over and I have completely regained my freedom, in the name of Jesus.

DAY 5 BREAKING THE GRIP OF ANTI-DESTINY MERCENARIES

"After this it came about that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. The lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, 'Entice him, and see where his great strength lies and how we may overpower him that we may bind him to afflict him. Then we will each give you eleven hundred pieces of silver.'" — Judges 16:4:5 (NASB)

The spirit of Delilah is an anti-destiny mercenary. Its assignment is to use unrelenting persistence and any other means necessary to discover the secret of your greatness, to reveal that secret to your enemies and to facilitate your downfall and eventual death.

To the extent that the activities of the spirit of Delilah culminate in death, this is not a spirit to joke with at all. If you are not or will not become great in life, Delilah is not interested in you. On the other hand, if you are great or if you are on the way to greatness, be you male or female, you are a potential or current target of this evil spirit.

CHARACTERISTICS

1. The spirit of Delilah only attacks people of destiny and greatness. (Judges 13:5)

2. It attacks people of destiny who however have a history of easily giving in to persistent, unrelenting nagging, crying, guilt tripping and other deceptive tricks. (Judges 14:12-18)

3. It attacks people who are filled with rage and anger. (Judges 14:19)

4. The spirit of Delilah attacks people who abandon their responsibilities, thus opening the door for it to enter and operate. If Samson had not abandoned his wife in a fit of rage, she would not have been given to another man. Then, he wouldn't have needed to burn the vineyards of the Philistines who in turn set his wife and father-in-law ablaze. So, he would never had met Delilah. (Judges 14:19-20, 15:1-6)

5. It attacks people of destiny who easily fall into immorality and other kinds of sin. (Judges 16:1)

6. It is this affinity for sin that will eventually connect such persons to the spirit of Delilah. (Judges 16:4)

7. It is a mercenary spirit which operates a trade by barter system. It receives and it gives back in return. (Judges 16:5)

8. Its main assignment is to discover the secret of the greatness of its victims. (Judges 16:5)

9. Its secondary assignment is to find out how its victims can be subdued and captured. (Judges 16:5)

10. It will use any tool it deems necessary to achieve its assignment including tactical questioning, deception, guilt tripping, relentless nagging, etc. (Judges 16:6-21)

11. It is ruthlessly persistent and will never stop until it get what it wants. (Judges 16:15-16)

12. It puts its victims to sleep while their destinies and lives are being ruined. (Judges 16:19)

13. It torments its victims. (Judges 16:15-19)

14. When its own work is done, it hands over its victims to other spirits including the spirit of blindness, disgrace, downfall, past glory, mockery, shame, powerlessness, unfulfilled potential, destiny diversion and suicide or premature death. (Judges 16)

PRAYERS TO DEFEAT THE SPIRIT OF DELILAH

1. Everlasting Father, I know that You have created me for a reason. You have destined me to be great. I want to fulfill my destiny, so, I ask you this morning to come to my aid, in the name of Jesus.

2. Merciful God, forgive me of any sin that I have committed and that has now opened the doors of my life to the spirit of Delilah, in the name of Jesus.

3. Have mercy O Lord and let any affinity between me and iniquity be broken completely, in the name of Jesus.

4. Any bridge, built by sin, which is serving as a conduit through which powers of darkness are flowing into my life, be destroyed by fire, in the name of Jesus.

5. My God, I present myself before You in whole. Help me and remove from me any kind of weakness that the spirit of Delilah has exploited to attack me, in the name of Jesus.

6. Specifically, O Lord, deliver me from the weakness of easily giving in to persistent nagging to my own detriment, in the name of Jesus.

7. You spirit of rage, you ultimately led Samson to Delilah and contributed to his downfall. I decree unto you that I am no longer your candidate or your prisoner. Lose your hold over my life now, in the name of Jesus.

8. Any foul spirit of rage and anger on whose back the spirit of Delilah has entered into my life, I bind you and I cast you out of my life, in the name of Jesus.

9. O God, let every negative consequence of my acts of rage, which I am now suffering from, be reversed by fire, in the name of Jesus.

10. Lord of hosts, have mercy on me for the sin of abandoning my responsibilities, in the name of Jesus.

11. Any door that has been opened in my life through the sin of abandonment of responsibilities and through which the spirit of Delilah has entered into my life, I slam you shut now and forever, in the name of Jesus.

13. I come against any mercenary spirit that has been consulted against me, in the name of Jesus.

14. You foul mercenary spirit assigned to attack me, I decree against you that my life is not your candidate, in the name of Jesus. 15. I command the evil trade by barter between you and your Philistine senders to be nullified and reversed, in the name of Jesus.

16. Delilah, I speak disunity, discord and confusion between you and your senders, in the name of Jesus.

17. You the spirit of Delilah assigned against my life and has already discovered the secret of my life, I bind you now. I command your knowledge to come to nothing and to be of no value, in the name of Jesus.

18. Spirit of Delilah that has already discovered how I can be subdued and captured, again, I bind you. I command the information you have about me to become worthless, in the name of Jesus.

19. You spirit of Delilah assigned against me, I speak confusion unto you now and forever, in the name of Jesus.

20. Any relationship between me and the spirit of Delilah, I render you null and void, in the name of Jesus.

21. Any relationship between me and any human agent of Delilah, I render you null and void, in the name of Jesus.

DAY 6 DOMINION OVER THE SPIRIT OF LABAN

"And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled. And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead." — Genesis 31:22-23 (KJV)

The agenda of the spirit of Laban is simple: to cunningly beleaguer its victim with responsibilities and therefore, to enslave him or her, to extort and exploit the victim's destiny in order to suck out all possible benefits and to eventually dump the victim by sending him or her away empty-handed and in great poverty.

Everyone that works for another person either as an employee or a consultant or in some other capacity is a potential or current target of the spirit of Laban. This spirit is alive and well. You can either be its victim or vanquish it. Better for you to vanquish it so you can live a life of maximum destiny fulfillment!

CHARACTERISTICS

1. The spirit of Laban is a spirit of greed. (Genesis 24:28-30)

2. It is a spirit of flattery. (Genesis 24:31)

3. It is a spirit that slows down progress. (Genesis 24:55)

4. People assume that it can provide hope and refuge. In reality, it is a spirit of dashed hopes and perverted refuge. (Genesis 27:42-44)

5. People assume that it provides pleasure and can help in the fulfillment of their dreams. In reality, it is a spirit of false dreams and hardship. (Genesis 24:28-30)

6. It makes its victims feel welcomed but only offers short-lived relief from their worries. (Genesis 29:13-14)

7. It uses and exploits its victims very quickly or as soon as possible. (Genesis 29:14-15)

8. It exploits the ignorance of its victims. It accepts their promises and vows—no matter how silly or ridiculous—and sees to it that they fulfill them. (Genesis 29:15-19)

12. It works with the spirit of divination to find out information about its victims. (Genesis 30:25-27)

13. It works with spirits of idolatry. (Genesis 31:19)

14. It is a spirit that does not want to let its victims go. (Genesis 30:25-27)

15. It is a parasitic spirit that wants to eat the fruit of your labor. (Genesis 30:25-27)

16. It is a spirit that wants to claim everything you have worked for. (Genesis 31:43)

17. It is a spirit of forceful dispossession. (Genesis 31:31)

20. One way to eliminate the spirit of Laban is by asking for and implementing divine wisdom against it. (Genesis 30:31-43)

3. I break the power of the manipulation of my destiny through the flattery of the spirit of Laban. It shall no longer work against me, in the name of Jesus.

4. O God, let the hold of Laban upon my progress in life be broken, in the name of Jesus.

5. Any power slowing down the speed of my destiny and detaining my glory, be paralyzed and be arrested, in the name of Jesus.

6. I reject the false hope and refuge offered to me by the spirit of Laban, in the name of Jesus.

DAY 7 UNSEATING THE SPIRIT OF HEROD

Matthew 2:16“16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.”

The spirit of Herod represents any personality that will do whatsoever it takes to silence its rivals so that what it considers to be the norm can remain in place and unchanged for as long as possible.

If you are not a savior of people, world changer, pacesetter or trailblazer, the spirit of Herod is not interested in you. On the other hand, if you are inspired to bring change to any situation—whatever or wherever that situation is—you are a potential or current target of the spirit of Herod. But since Children of God are called to be the salt of the earth, the light of the world and a city on the hilltop, it means, naturally, your glory must shine. Therefore, confrontation with this spirit at one point or the other is inevitable. If it hasn't already, sooner or later, it will come against you. Thus, you need to know what to do to prevent its attacks or to unseat the spirit completely, if it is currently raging against you.

CHARACTERISTICS HEROD THE GREAT

1. The spirit of Herod is a spirit of insecurity, intense rivalry and fatal competition. (Matthew 2:1-3)

2. It is threatened by the rising of any rival and it considers such a person a threat to its situation. (Matthew 2:2)

3. It does opposition research on its rivals to know their location. (Matthew 2:3)

4. It also does opposition research to find out the seasons and times of its rivals' situation and operations. (Matthew 2:7)

5. It is a lying spirit. It lies to people in order to gain one kind of advantage or the other over its rivals. (Matthew 2:8)

6. It uses the information garnered from its opposition research to unleash mayhem upon its rivals. (Matthew 2:16-18)

7. It forces its rivals to go into exile. (Matthew 2:)

8. It is a spirit of murder that specializes in killing the young. (Matthew 2:16-18)

CHARACTERISTICS HEROD ARCHELAUS

1. It is the spirit of ridicule and mockery. (Luke 23:11)

2. It arrests and imprisons its rivals. (Matthew 14:3-4)

18. O Lord, I pray, save me from any kind of physical, spiritual, mental or psychological exile that I have been forced into by the spirit of Herod, in the name of Jesus.

19. Almighty God, just as You delivered Peter from the prison of Herod, in the same manner, let the chains and bondage of Herod come off me and let me be free from the prison of the spirit of Herod today, in the name of Jesus.
