Romans 12:9–21 LSB
Let love be without hypocrisy—by abhorring what is evil, clinging to what is good, being devoted to one another in brotherly love, giving preference to one another in honor, not lagging behind in diligence, being fervent in spirit, serving the Lord, rejoicing in hope, persevering in affliction, being devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, pursuing hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless, and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep, by being of the same mind toward one another, not being haughty in mind, but associating with the humble. Do not be wise in your own mind. Never paying back evil for evil to anyone, respecting what is good in the sight of all men, if possible, so far as it depends on you, being at peace with all men, never taking your own revenge, beloved—instead leave room for the wrath of God. For it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord. BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:1–2 LSB
Therefore I exhort you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—living, holy, and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may approve what the will of God is, that which is good and pleasing and perfect.
How transformed in our minds? Love

Love without hypocrisy

Sincerity
One thing to someone’s face, but then talk about them when they are not there...
Or, love in reality, not just saying I love you, but showing that love, acting in love because love is not a matter of words, but actions
1 John 3:18 LSB
Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

Abhorring what is evil

detest with horror
There is a push in our culture that says if we love someone we need to love and accept all that they are and do.
That is not true love. True love, sincere love, abhors what is evil, what God calls sinful.
True love knows the danger one is in when they are living in sin, and warns them.
We need to know God’s Word, and live, and encourage others to live according to God’s ways.
Psalm 34:14 LSB
Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.
Psalm 119:104 LSB
From Your precepts I get perception; Therefore I hate every false way.
Psalm 119:128 LSB
Therefore I deem all Your precepts concerning everything to be right, I hate every false way.
Proverbs 8:13 LSB
“The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the mouth of perverted words, I hate.
1 Thessalonians 5:21–22 LSB
but examine all things; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.
Luke 19:45–46 LSB
And Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling, saying to them, “It is written, ‘AND MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER,’ but you have made it a ROBBERS’ DEN.”

Clinging to what is good

Be glued to it
Hold onto the good, and encourage others in the good that you see in them
We cannot rejoice in evil, but we can, and need to rejoice in the good. Give praise where we can, and not just correction for evil.
