But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs. And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king. Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants. So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
Introduction:
I. Food Poisoning story
Heard about a restaurant , it looked good.
Everything that looks good ain’t Good
Maybe I shouldn’t eat it. Something didn’t seem right.
A few hours later, they contracted food poising
48 hours to recover - How long does it take to recover
Have you ever had this experience? Maybe it wasn’t food Poising but we’ve all had an encounter
where we knew something was off and we did it anyway.
YOU KNOW - The Holy Spirit told you more than once - Dont do that. Aht Aht, Stop.
And Hear me, it doesn’t always have to be negative
All I’m saying is the Holy Spirit will Guide you into all truth.
But the Cost of disobedience is never worth it.
What the point? Man has the ability to make a choice since the 2nd chapter of Gen.
I. Daniel
Daniel is taken into Babylon
He is Favored. Wise. cunning in Knowledge & understanding.
Daniel is now a young man in Babylon and he refused to take part in the Babylonian ways.
Daniel is YOUNG - We don’t know how old. possibly teenage years
If we ever needed the lord we need him today are experiencing some things earlier and earlier.
Like the sons of Issachar in the chronicles 12 chapter - They new what to do, when to do it. understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do
A. equipping your children with the word of God is vitally important.
B. Like the sons of Issachar, you must understanding whats appropriate and when its appropriate
Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”;
Even with daniels name being changed, he refused to conform. you must holds on to what you knows is true .
And would not eat what the king ate, or drink what the king drank
It’s David who refused to give in - no compromising, for what he believed in.
Daniel Purposed IN HIS HEART that he would not DEFILE HIMSELF.
Defiling ones self.
* Breaking the law of Moses as given in the Book of Leviticus.
* Food which was allowed to Israel was to be killed and prepared in a certain way
1 Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
David said it this way -
Ps. 119:11
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
There must be an intimate relationship with Christ, a knowing of who he is. Once you come into the knowing of who is he - you can’t just choose him on Sundays, put him down and pick him back up again on Wednesday.
And wonder why you’re struggling on Thursday.
Even though Daniel is now in Babylon - He’s made a decision.
True Life changes comes when you make up in your mind, to turn in the other direction.
Meaning - Follow Christ.
John 14:6 I am the way the Truth and the life.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
BUT Seasons of difficulty, the struggle of the flesh are inevitable
Daniel decides to avoid the kings table to eat “nothing but vegetables and water to drink” for 10 days.
Thank about that - This takes another meaning to Living like a KING.
He quite LITERALLY has an opportunity to Live like a the king
but chooses to please the lord, the KING OF KINGS.
The bible says that Daniel was Favored- when you’ve been favored by God and anointed by God you can’t afford to defile or indulge with the system of this world.

CONFORM VS TRANSFORM
conform : to confrom to another’s pattern
be bold enough to be who god called you to be.
TRUE CHANGE CAN ONLY TAKE PLACE WHEN YOU DECIDE TO MAKE THE MOVE.

your old self has been crucified with Christ
Renewing your mind is the process by which your thoughts and your will become more and more Christlike.
Just as christ…
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
The renewal of your mind is recognized by an increasingly faithful and obedient response to God’s Word
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him
Whatsoever - If it’s not edifying Christ, you can’t partake.
consistent Commitments and renewing of your mind is an integral part of your spiritual development.
WORHIP CONFUSES THE ENEMY
HOW Can you praise in Chaos?
It’s not what its looks like,
Hopeless
Powerless
RuthLess - Ruth meaning compassion.
In the reverse - Fearless
The devil quite literally fighting for your mind.
You have to understand that the devil will not Relentless.
Worship Must be a priority.
honor, reverence and homage, in. thoughts, feelings and actions paid never to men, nor Angels or other spiritual beings but only. to one true Holy God. For a genuine believer, worship is a life-long expression
John 10:10
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
self-denial must be sought
Colossians 1:16–17 “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.
