Lest do first a brief explanation of this Gospel.
Some Greeks approach to Philip to see Jesus trough him, we see clear the meditation of the Saints, if they did this when were only physically close to Jesus, now that there are united with him in the heaven could to more perfect.
1. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.
Is been tree years since the minister of Christ, they saw him turning the water into wine, heal sick, multiplied bread, and give life to the death.
They expect that his life in the earth would be better, but suddenly Jesus presents the conditions to follow him, you must taste the sorrow; you must deny yourselves if you want to enter with me to heaven.
This the opposite of the principles of the word:
the world says live and let another live, that means, enjoy do no denied yourself anything.
But Jesus says if you live only to consent, to overprotect, to spoil your life your will lose forever, but if you denied yourselves, you will live eternally.
Let’s put some examples:
The marriage that decides to do no have a more childbecause they do not want to have any economic troubles, better one or two and they can have all:
· They a living that rule my comfort and the comfort of this is more valuable than the life of more child.
· I won’t give you other brother, I will give you a car, a university title, but do not ask more brothers…
· They person that eat, all drink all, even if it damages his body and soul, because he must enjoy.
CHRYSOSTOM. (Hom. lxvii. 1.) He loves his life in this world, the one who indulges in his disordered desires; he hates it, the one who resists them.
So if you follow only the disorder pleasures will find the eternal death, but if you denied it and allows only what God wants for you will find the eternal life.
If your live with the principles of the word and the wishes of the flesh you will find death, but I you denied your die to the law of the word and live according the law of God you will find the eternal life.
The Gospel tells us that we must die for principles of the world and live the life of Christ.
2. If you want to follow Jesus, you must prepare for the suffering
Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life.
The world does not understand this, even worst many Christians do understand this, even the preached the opposite: there a theology called the theology of prosperity that basically says if you follow Jesus all be fine in your life. You will find heath money etc.
But there is no another way to go to God than life of Christ:
Whoever desires to lead a perfect life, let him do nothing but despise what Christ despised on the cross and desire what Christ desired
That is the narrow gate that a few people find, to conform his life with the life of Christ, with his suffering.
If you want to follow Jesus prepare yourself to suffer with him.
Prepare yourself to be mocked for others
Prepare for been questioned in the work.
Prepare your family, there is no another way, if you want to go to heaven, you cannot use another way that the way that Jesus walked.
Been a Cristian do not mean been a cool person, means hold the Gospel in your Daly life, even to the point of been rejected, killed by this.
During the war of the "cristeros", when the Mexican Revolution persecuted the Church to death, masses were held clandestinely and the neighbors passed the word to each other every time a priest dressed in civilian clothes arrived in town. In a town, somewhere rural in Mexico, they were waiting for the priest who would arrive that weekend from a neighboring town. The clandestine catechists had baptisms and other sacraments prepared, and for this occasion they obtained an old barn, large enough to hold a few hundred faithfuls. That Sunday morning the old barn was completely filled with a number of worshippers around. The 600 people who were gathered waiting for the celebration to begin were shocked to see two men enter dressed in military uniform and armed. One of the men said, "Whoever dares to be shot for Christ, let him stay where he is. The doors will be open for only five minutes." Immediately the choir got up and left. The deacons also left, and much of the congregation. Of the 600 people, only 20 remained. The soldier who had spoken looked at the priest and said, "OK, Father, I'm a Christian too, and I've gotten rid of the hypocrites. Keep up your celebration."
The time is arriving that if you want remain Fai full to Christ, you must be ready to suffer and been rejected by the word.
· Are you disposed to be shot for Christ,
· Are you disposed to renounce this Job, because is against Christ.
· Are you disposed to move even to another place.
· Are you disposed to be mocked.
· Remember the words
3. But to be clear the Cristian do not look the suffering, Chris was no looking for it, but when it comes, the Cristian must bear it and suffer as a solder of Christ.
When I had and accident as Seminarian, I burned my head and hands, I was in the hospital with a big pain, and then a Sister told me Father here you will do a lot of apostolate, and I look at the sister with a face that says this is no the moment sister. But she continue with the clinch moment: You will teach the people how a Cristian bear the suffering. Les tiene que enseñar como sufre un cristiano.
This is true, we do not look for the suffering but when it comes, we have to carry and show how a Cristian bear the sufferings.
I remember the nurses and doctors were all astonished by how Carlo faced those moments. He never complained. His arms and legs were swollen and full of fluid.
He often repeated, “Not I, but God.” And also, “Not love for oneself but rather the glory of God.” “Sadness is looking inward toward oneself, happiness is looking toward God.” How those words must have resounded within him at that time! The doctors ordered the mask back on his head. They asked him how he felt, and he answered with a smile, “I am well; there are people who are suffering much more than me.” They looked at each other incredulously. They knew the pain that this type of leukemia produced. However, that is how he answered.
Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life.
Whoever follows me in pain, He will follow me in joy…
St. Teresa of Avila once asked Christ why he put so many difficulties in his way. "Don't complain, that's how I treat my friends," Jesus answered. Now I understand, Lord, why you have so few friends
You wanto to be of those few friends of Jesus, dare to suffer with him… Those are the real friend of Jesus.
