Authority and the Kingdom

Luke 10:1–3 (CSB)
After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and he sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. Now go; I’m sending you out like lambs among wolves.
Seventy-two others: Jesus already commissioned the the Twelve Disciples
Luke 9:1–3 CSB
Summoning the Twelve, he gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. Then he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. “Take nothing for the road,” he told them, “no staff, no traveling bag, no bread, no money; and don’t take an extra shirt.
Luke 9:6 CSB
So they went out and traveled from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing everywhere.
The Gospel is the message- “The Good news”
Has anyone ever told you God love you and has a wonderful plan for your life?
This is the good news!
CHRIST GIVES BEFORE HE COMMANDS- BEFORE THEY SENT FORTH TO PROCLAIM THE GOODNEWS, JESUS GIVES THEM POWER AND AUTHORITY-
THESES ARE PEOPLE WHO HAD COMMITTED THEMSELVES TO JESUS ALREADY- They followed Him
They close in proximity to His ministry and even in relationship to him
If fact they are going to Go before Him
THEY ANNOUNCE THE GOODNEWS OF THE KINGDOM AND THE KING FOLLOWS

In the Ministry of Soul winning:

We need to understand:
There is a harvest
There is a call to labor
What these disciples find as they go and do the will of God- He equips they for the task-
Luke 10:17–21 CSB
The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing at all will harm you. However, don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” At that time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.
