Contentment - Paul and Silas in Jail (Acts 16:25-40)

Quote Ideas:
216You say, “If I had a little more, I should be very satisfied.” You make a mistake. If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled.—5.154
Charles Spurgeon
Poor and content is rich and rich enough.
William Shakespeare
Paul is content in both circumstances because his contentment is utterly independent of circumstances.
D. A. Carson
1808 My crown is in my heart, not on my head;
Not deck’d with diamonds and Indian stones,
Nor to be seen: my crown is call’d content;
A crown it is that seldom kings enjoy.
William Shakespeare
True contentment is the power of getting out of any situation all that there is in it.
G. K. Chesterton
Notes to further build on/study:
Philippians 4:11 (Do some lexical analysis on the word content), Psalm 131, Hebrews 13:5, 1 Timothy 6:6, Psalm 16
True contentment comes from being fully sufficient in Christ rather than fully sufficient in self. - Me
use some sort of illustration to help show contentment:
someone eats a nice meal, someone else eats a not so nice meal - there are other christians out there just enjoying life while Paul is in prison. while serving in ministry it is easy to compare your life with others, yada yada. BUILD OFF OF THIS. i like it a lot!
Need to use things that will help reach all audiences: Audio, visual, and hands on
