2 Chronicles 29:4–8 ESV
He brought in the priests and the Levites and assembled them in the square on the east and said to them, “Hear me, Levites! Now consecrate yourselves, and consecrate the house of the Lord, the God of your fathers, and carry out the filth from the Holy Place. For our fathers have been unfaithful and have done what was evil in the sight of the Lord our God. They have forsaken him and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the Lord and turned their backs. They also shut the doors of the vestibule and put out the lamps and have not burned incense or offered burnt offerings in the Holy Place to the God of Israel. Therefore the wrath of the Lord came on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has made them an object of horror, of astonishment, and of hissing, as you see with your own eyes.
Recap
Cycle of Destruction of the Temple
Jesus Example of what it is going to take to restore
Cleansing out the temple
standing up right worship
in the resurrection the bringing of the body into alignment
Where we are
the church doors have been opened
the temple of our hearts has been opened
The shaking brought a cleaning out that reaches the depths
Turning away from what our ancestors have done
Learning what it means to consecrate ourselves
The way ahead
Consecration
Bringing all the tools and talents
Restoring right worship
2 Chronicles 29:18–19 ESV
Then they went in to Hezekiah the king and said, “We have cleansed all the house of the Lord, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the table for the showbread and all its utensils. All the utensils that King Ahaz discarded in his reign when he was faithless, we have made ready and consecrated, and behold, they are before the altar of the Lord.”
Kind of a holding pattern… ( many of us are here now) so what is next?

Prepare the temple for the homecoming of he ministers who have been homeless for so long

Make Ready the House for the Ministers

Without beating this to death… this section of scripture shows how the ministers not only closed the doors
They turned their backs to right service
forgot how to minister before the Lord
appeared to be more adept to ministering to the altar of damascus
A season of bringing together those who will lead the arrivals
2 Chronicles 29:20–21 ESV
Then Hezekiah the king rose early and gathered the officials of the city and went up to the house of the Lord. And they brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. And he commanded the priests, the sons of Aaron, to offer them on the altar of the Lord.
We must gather those who are now able to serve
it is not a surprise to see Remnant “slowly” making traction
the Lord is bringing home those who will be officials. (Elders, fathers, mothers)
You are not here by mistake you have been chosen by the living God to bring the people home
This is the reason why this shaking has been like no other.
You will lead the people home

Restore Proper Worship

2 Chronicles 29:25–26 ESV
And he stationed the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, harps, and lyres, according to the commandment of David and of Gad the king’s seer and of Nathan the prophet, for the commandment was from the Lord through his prophets. The Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
More than just seeing who someone is… seeing the proper role they are to play
Station the ministers according to what God wants of the them.
they belong to the Lord not the temple
The way has been paved
for them
King David
Seer Gad
Prophet Nathan

Ministers will teach others to worship

Read through the ministers needed to be taught once more what was required of them
2 Chronicles 29:31 ESV
Then Hezekiah said, “You have now consecrated yourselves to the Lord. Come near; bring sacrifices and thank offerings to the house of the Lord.” And the assembly brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and all who were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings.
It was not until the officials made themselves ready that the congregation was able to come
The term consecration continues to be the way
more than setting apart
Be filled and submitted (Holy Spirit)
No one will be forced to the work many will come and go however, what is being asked is for a willingness to step forward

Too Much Work; Too Few Ministers

This level of readiness causes many to come in through the doors to the point where there is more of them than there are ready ministers
The best part of this: No one will say “Look What I did”
we have paid a steep price
It has cost everything to be here
“If God had not… I would have quit”
2 Chronicles 29:34–35 ESV
But the priests were too few and could not flay all the burnt offerings, so until other priests had consecrated themselves, their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was finished—for the Levites were more upright in heart than the priests in consecrating themselves. Besides the great number of burnt offerings, there was the fat of the peace offerings, and there were the drink offerings for the burnt offerings. Thus the service of the house of the Lord was restored.
Several things noted
The restoring of the temple will inevitably bring in more work than thought possible
The restoring will highlight how too many priests no longer know their role
Priest had to be Levite not all Levites were priests
There is a people who has stayed away from the broken temple but today are found consecrating
Scripture “…using the foolish to humble the wise”
well suited ministers ton of head knowledge… the rejected have the heart
None are dismissed as those who are now coming in will ready the way for a restoration of the lost.

This is Revival

The temple doors have been opened
the temple is now clean
the ministers are consecrated
The homeless are finding a home
2 Chronicles 29:36 ESV
And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because God had provided for the people, for the thing came about suddenly.
where it seems like there was not enough
where it seemed like the chasm was too wide
where it seemed like it was taking too long
Rejoice for the Lord has provided for His people… Rejoice because it will come suddenly
Rejoice because He has chosen the weak; the outcast; the not enough to make things work
Rejoice for it is not by might or by strength but BY HIS SPIRIT AN D IT CAME SUDDENLY
