Paul’s second missionary journey
Affluence, business, tradition, manufacturing
central position in trade routes of the isthmus
worship of many gods, including Aphrodite (love and beauty)
Temple of Aphrodite
1000 temple prostitutes
rampant sexual immorality and pressure to approve

Time to Give Thanks

… “in every place”- universal church / local church
(v 4) grateful for God’s grace
the church is well equipped with the gifts of the spirit
Jesus will sustain you
God is faithful

take away

doing the work of the Lord is challenging
resistance from the world
resistance from within the body
resistance from within one’s self
strategic approach to ministry efforts
small towns need good churches too!
blessing of involvement (what will God do?)
Not much difference between Corinth and USA
It is no longer hard to find a mission field!
