The Kingdom

Your Kingdom come
the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples to pray
we started looking at the Kingdom of God
the kingdom that was given to Adam with Eve as his bride
to have dominion over the earth
to subdue and fill the earth with cultures and governments
to be the King over the earth
but that was lost at the fall
from that time forward the plan of redemption was implemented
God through covenants to Abraham and Moses the kingdom was to come through the descendants of Abraham
the covenant with David says that the king of the Kingdom will be His descendant
what is this Kingdom to be like we saw in Is 65 17-end
utopia
Read Luke 11 1-4.

Kingdom From Abraham

If the Kingdom come from from A. how can we as gentiles become a part in it?
the new Covenant that Jesus establishes is for the Israelites
Jeremiah 31:31–33 LSB
“Behold, days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will cut a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I cut with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, but I was a husband to them,” declares Yahweh. “But this is the covenant which I will cut with the house of Israel after those days,” declares Yahweh: “I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
so we as gentiles have a problem
Jesus gives us a hint in
John 10:16 LSB
“And I have other sheep, which are not from this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.
Kings at the time of Christ were often called shepherds
Psalm 78:70–71 LSB
He also chose David His servant And took him from the sheepfolds; From following the nursing ewes He brought him To shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel His inheritance.
Jesus has a flock not of Israel
lets look at Romans and see what Paul has to say about the Gentiles
Abraham is the father to all that are of the faith
Romans 4:16 LSB
For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be according to grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the seed, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all—
Romans 11:17–19 LSB
But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became a partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast against them, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.”
Galatians 3:6–7 LSB
Just as Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness, so know that those who are of faith, those are sons of Abraham.
So not all of Israel is part of the Kingdom
their branch has been broken off of the Kingdom tree
the gentile believers have been grafted into the tree

The New Testament

tho one in the Last Days that started at the birth of the King
the wisemen from the east came to worship the king
Jesus died as the king of the Jews
in Luke Jesus sent the 70 to villages to proclaim the kingdom is at hand
Jesus the King is coming to town
Jesus came giving a sample of this kingdom
the healings, dead coming to life, evil demons are cast out
Heavenly food
This kingdom actually started when Jesus the king arrived
but a kingdom has to establish itself
the Inauguration phase
conquer the enemy
in Ps 110 we have The Father speaking to God the Son
Psalm 110 LSB
Of David. A Psalm. Yahweh says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand Until I put Your enemies as a footstool for Your feet.” Yahweh will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, “Have dominion in the midst of Your enemies.” Your people will offer themselves freely in the day of Your power; In the splendor of holiness, from the womb of the dawn, The dew of Your youthfulness will be Yours. Yahweh has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” The Lord is at Your right hand; He will crush kings in the day of His anger. He will render justice among the nations, He will fill them with corpses, He will crush the head that is over the wide earth. He will drink from the brook by the wayside; Therefore He will lift up His head.
In Matt Jesus talks about this kingdom advancing
Matthew 11:12 LSB
“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force.
both John and Jesus suffered because of the kingdom
but the kingdom is going forward
there are many people who still have to come into the kingdom
the Great commission to go and make disciples
all authority has been given= as the king
Matthew 28:18–20 LSB
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to keep all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Where people are rescued from the dominion of satan
Colossians 1:13 LSB
Who rescued us from the authority of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son of His love,
many other times in the gospels is the kingdom spoken of
the Messiah King was expected
but we have the mystery the age of the Church
Jesus came as the Messiah Lamb
the Kingdom would not have any people if it was not for the Messiah Lamb
Adam and Eve blew it when left to their own decisions
the nation of Israel blew it left to their own decisions
the only way is through grace that anyone is saved
sooo
after Jesus died and resurrected
he spoke to them of the kingdom
Acts 1:3 LSB
to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over forty days and speaking about the things concerning the kingdom of God.
the apostles asked
Acts 1:6 LSB
So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
so Jesus had to set them straight
we see in Peters second sermon
the restoring of all things, the Kingdom
Acts 3:19–21 LSB
“Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time.
so what is

Our Responsibility In The Inaugural Kingdom

while Jesus is sitting on the Throne Reigning from Heaven
1 Corinthians 15:25 LSB
For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.
1 Peter 2:9–10 LSB
But you are a chosen family, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Revelation 1:5–6 LSB
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood— and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the might forever and ever. Amen.
we are with Jesus advancing the kingdom
as priests we are represent God to the people
As ambassadors we advance the Kingdom to the nations
under our Great High Priest Jesus
waiting for the time when he call us home
with the shout and the trump of God
then come back with our Groom to reign with Him
for 1000 years in the Millennial Kingdom
Like Adam with his bride Eve were supposed to

Your Kingdom Come

God has grafted us into this Kingdom
as the potter He has made us to be a kingdom of priests
He gave us mercy and grace
your Kingdom come is a reminder to us of who we are in Christ
a reminder that we belong to the kingdom
a reminder that Jesus is on the throne in Heaven
and He will someday be on the promised throne of David
Your Kingdom Come
gives us hope and confidence that what we see going on in this world will come to an end
