Introduction

Good morning and welcome to Oasis Church, it is great to have you join with us today. If you are visiting with us, we welcome you, and look forward to chatting with you after the service around morning tea.
If you are taking notes I have entitled this message: (Our God Of The Breakthrough).
Today we will take the time to study Gods word and see that He is our God of the breakthrough.
It is our relationship with God that helps us to understand and know that God is on our side, and that He, is fighting for us.

Lets Pray as we get into His word

2 Samuel 5:10 NKJV
So David went on and became great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him.
2 Samuel 5:17–25 NKJV
17 Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went down to the stronghold. 18 The Philistines also went and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. 19 So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.” 20 So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim. 21 And they left their images there, and David and his men carried them away. 22 Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. 23 Therefore David inquired of the Lord, and He said, “You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. 24 And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” 25 And David did so, as the Lord commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.
1 Chronicles 14:11 NKJV
11 So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
Isaiah 28:21 NKJV
21 For the Lord will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon— That He may do His work, His awesome work, And bring to pass His act, His unusual act.
Verse 10 David became “greater and greater” but only because the Lord, the God of Hosts, was with him.
David was king over Judah, Now he was king over Israel. The Philistines did not like this and came up against David.
Verse 17 If you are going to have a breakthrough, you must go to the Stronghold/Quiet place to hear from God.
Verse 19 Always inquire of the Lord before you go ahead and obedient to what He tells you to do.
If God says stay, then stay. But if God says go, then go.
Verse 20 David came to Baal-Perazim which means the Lord of bursting through or the Lord of Breakthrough.

BAAL - PERAZIM

In the picturesque way of the Hebrews, David depicts his first victory in Rephaim as a divine breakthrough of water, something like the onrush of a flash-flood. He may have been thinking of the results of heavy rainfall in hilly country, when the water pours down the hillsides and the gullies cannot contain it but spill over, eroding under the torrent. In a similar way, armies can rush down upon their foes, who are unable to defend against the onslaught and break.
Thus, David calls the place Baal Perazim or “Lord of Outbursts.” We do not normally think of God in this way, but we are instructed by this passage in Scripture to consider it. Our God has a multifaceted personality. He is not always calm and patient, treading softly and ruffling no feathers. Sometimes, He suddenly breaks out with an ear-splitting shout and an onrush of overwhelming power that nothing and no one can stand against! Fortunately, He does this against His and His people's enemies, sweeping them away with a stroke of His arm.
I watched a clip the other day of a flash flooding - people on a bridge trying to get off.
How we see God - The marble analogy.
The power of God.

1. Keys to a Breakthrough:

You’ve Got to Face It.
You Need God’s Help.
You Must Listen to God and Follow His Instructions.

2. Breaking Cycles. Cycles will Continue:

Through different seasons of your life.
From generation to generation.
Through various life situations.
Wherever you go.

3. Types of Cycles:

Fear
Unfaithfulness
Lies
Failure
Addiction
Lust

4. When you break a cycle, you need to:

Renew your Mouth/Testimony
Renew your Mind (Read your word)
Renew your Mission (Every believer can)

5. When the God of Breakthrough Shows up:

The enemy you feared will run from you.
You will be renewed by God’s Power.
You will be motivated for another victory.

Three Things We Need To Step Into nOur Breakthrough

1. There must be A Prophetic Word From God

The God of the breakthrough wants to visit my house.
Make me a cake first (Elijah)1 Kings 17
David asked God should we go up against the Philistines
A second attack from the Philistines

2. There must be A Willingness To Obey The Prophetic Word

We have to be willing to obey the word from God
What ever God says to you do it (Mary said do what ever He says)
Position yourself for the breakthrough

3. We must be willing and Obedient To Sow A Seed

It will cost you to win the battle through God.
Not my will, but Your will be done.

Blessing:

Today, we are empowered by the Word and Spirit of God. Our God has conquered all and He is victorious. He is our God and we are His people. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. No matter what stands in front of us, with God, we will breakthrough!
