Exodus 1-12 Slavery in Egypt
Exodus 13-18 Service to Sinai
“The Old Testament may be likened to a chamber richly furnished but dimly lighted; the introduction of light brings into it nothing which was not in it before; but it brings out into clearer view much of what is in it but was only dimly or even not at all perceived before.” B.B. Warfield

Service
We are all here to serve God ACTIVELY
During collective worship, it is just as much for you as it is for your neighbor
Music not so loud that you can’t hear the person next to you
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Come to the word expectant that he will work through it in your life

Sacrificial system
Israel, a sinful people could never stand before a Holy God. The blood of animals was never sufficient to pay for the sin of man. These sacrifices always pointed to the coming Christ

Conclusion

When we serve the Lord and accept the sacrifice of Jesus, we are welcomed into the throne room of El Shaddai.
We see the light shone on these beautiful pieces of scripture when we recognize that every bit of this was always about Jesus.
When we get to the sacrifices and the Law, remember that the sacrificial system was no longer necessary because the ultimate sacrifice has already been made. Remember that the Law was fulfilled by the life of Christ and He summarized it all in 2 commandments.
Matthew 22:37–40 “And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.””
When we come here to Mazevo, we serve Him by loving Him and loving one another. When we leave this place, we serve God by doing the same.
Our journey is similar in so many ways to the journey of Israel, but we get the benefit of the light having entered the chamber.
What we’ll see with Israel, is that the distance they had to travel will take them 40 years longer than they had thought, but as we examine these 40 years, we have so much we can learn about the way that God tests His people for their good and for His glory.
In the infinite wisdom of the Lord of all the earth, each event falls with exact precision into its proper place in the unfolding of His divine plan. Nothing, however small, however strange, occurs without His ordering, or without its particular fitness for its place in the working out of His purpose; and the end of all shall be the manifestation of His glory, and the accumulation of His praise.
