What You Believe Governs Your Actions

Romans 10:8–11 KJV 1900
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Believe

Do you have the authority to see it come to pass?

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
1 John 1:9 KJV 1900
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Hebrews 3:1 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Confession

It is affirming something we believe
It is testifying to something we know
It is witnessing to a truth that we have embraced.
Romans 10:8 KJV 1900

Right and Wrong Believing

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
Revelation 3:11 KJV 1900
11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Numbers 13:30 KJV 1900
30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
Hebrews 3:12 KJV 1900
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Two Kinds of Unbelief

Some doubt God’s Word because they do not know it. This is unbelief that is based on a lack of knowledge of the Word of God-— because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. So if people do not hear and do not know the Word of God, they cannot have faith. This kind of unbelief, then, is due to lack of having heard the Word. The cure for unbelief is to study God’s Word.
Another type of unbelief is failure to be persuaded. The children of Israel knew they were to take the Promised Land, because God had said He had given it to them. But they could not be persuaded to act on His Word. There are many believers who are informed about God’s Word, but they cannot be persuaded to act on it. This is unbelief. The cure for this particular kind of unbelief is obedience.
Romans 8:37 KJV 1900
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Isaiah 26:3 KJV 1900
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on thee: Because he trusteth in thee.
Philippians 2:5 KJV 1900
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Philippians 4:8 KJV 1900
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Romans 8:37 KJV 1900
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Matthew 12:34 KJV 1900
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Right and Wrong Confessing

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:
1 Peter 5:8 KJV 1900

A Sinner’s Prayer to Receive Jesus as Savior

Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to You in the Name of Jesus.
Your Word says, “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37), so I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in and I thank You for it.
You said in Your Word, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13). I am calling on Your Name, so I know You have saved me now.
You also said, “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom. 10:9–10). I believe in my heart Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe that He was raised from the dead for my justification, and I confess Him now as my Lord.
Because Your Word says, “With the heart man believeth unto righteousness,” and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Cor. 5:21) . . . And I am saved!
Thank You, Lord! Signed________________________ Date__________________________
