WHY?…
TODAY: Building Up - Care
Opening Scripture:
2 Corinthians 12:14–21 “14 Here for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be a burden, for I seek not what is yours but you. For children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but parents for their children. 15 I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less? 16 But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by deceit. 17 Did I take advantage of you through any of those whom I sent to you? 18 I urged Titus to go, and sent the brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not act in the same spirit? Did we not take the same steps? 19 Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved. 20 For I fear that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish—that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, h…”

Building Up Someone Requires Momentum!

When you hear the word momentum, what comes to mind?
· Momentum is the strength or force gained by motion or a series of events.
· Creating momentum is not an easy task but once you achieve it, it is worth maintaining.
· Physics tells us that momentum is the product of an objects’ mass and velocity.
· The heavier the object and the faster it moves, the more momentum it creates.
· Momentum: the force that turns small steps into giant leaps.
Explain the concept of momentum and its significance in the context of the local church.
· Momentum is the force that propels your church or area of responsibility forward and is greater than the sum of all your leadership strategy and resources combined.(Craig Groeschel)
Discuss how momentum can impact the effectiveness of ministry within the church.
· Consider momentum as a person positioned at the top of a hill, nudging a ball into motion. With just a gentle push, the ball sets off and continues rolling. This is the essence of momentum.
· Conversely, lacking momentum is akin to standing at the bottom of the same hill and attempting to kick the ball upward. Without swiftly pursuing and nudging it once more, the ball will inevitably begin to roll back, returning to its initial position.

Spiritual Momentum - Momentum builds confidence.

1 Samuel 17:37 “Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”
David gained a progessive confidence knowing the Lord was with him as he fought his enemy. Victory from the Lion  the Bear  A giant.
Moving from victory to victory, from strength to strength, from glory to glory, from faith to faith’ is a biblical picture of momentum and forward movement.
1 Corinthians 14:4 ESV
The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.
Proverbs 4:18 “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighterunto the perfect day.”

Acts of care begin the ripple effect of connection, collaboration, and celebration.

A rock hitting water can generate a large-diameter ripple that is physically seen.
Life has ripples of momentum, but they are unseenand behave differently across many currents of time, making them harder to perceive and believe than ripples made by a physical object.
Our church family must foster a culture of care, establishing meaningful connections, and promoting collaborative efforts.
Our Foursquare District leadership team encourages three essential keys to building momentum: Care, Connection, and Collaboration (3 C’s)
People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. - Theodore Roosevelt
· Care - Providing care involves demonstrating kindness, empathy and willingness to actively support and nurture the well-being of others, fostering a sense of community and compassion within families and organizations.

2 Corinthians 12:19 (ESV)
19 Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.
In the Bible, care is often described as an expression of God's love and concern for humanity. Throughout the scriptures, there are numerous verses that highlight the concept of care, both in terms of God's care for his people and the guidance for people to care for one another .
For example, in the Old Testament, there are passages that illustrate God's compassionate and nurturing nature, such as Psalms 23:1-4, where God is depicted as a shepherd who cares for his flock.
