The point of the matter is the glory of God. In the beginning God was gloried, when its all said and done God will be glorified. And God is most glorified when he is glorified in and through us. God is glorified when we worship, when we praise, when we offer up ourselves for service. But, there are times when God will be glorified in spite of us, or even in our disciplining, because at the end of the day God will be glorified. This should not come as a means of making one afraid but it should comfort us. That no matter what we go through, God will work it out for our good and for God’s glory.

1. God’s glory is the Priority (v.1-5)

What is happening is for the Glory of God.

Not end they way you think…(so instead of asking “why me?”…and how will you be gloried in me.

Son of God glorified.

2. God’s plan may include Procrastination (v.6-7)

Let me get this straight Jesus. Let me make sure I got this correct.

“So”-is a conjunction that indicates therefore

3. Jesus walked in Purpose (v.8-11)

The illustration Jesus uses to indicate that he understood the assignment was the light of the world. Jesus knew what he was supposed to do because he was walking int he light provided to him by God, and as such he expects us to do the same. The flip side of the coin is that if you are in darkness, apart from the illumination to life that God provides then you will stumble and fall.

If you are going to reach your destination in the next phase of your life you will need to know where you are going and a lit path. I’m so glad then…Light of the world…Lamp onto my feet...

It didn’t matter to Jesus what was ahead of him he still, with laser sharp focus and dogged determination said, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go so that I may awaken him out of sleep”

4. Jesus reiterates His Promise (v.12-16)

So that you may believe.

…I can heal…I can save…deliver…I can fix..I can wash…I can provide…I can move…I can create…redeem…I can reconcile…rearrange…I can rebuild…I can resurrect…I can change things…I can build up…I can answer…work miracles…I can am God and God all by my self...
