A man who accidentally left $187,000 behind in a cab has his money back thanks to an honest Boston cab driver. Raymond “Buzzy” MacCausland, the driver, said he picked up a man who told him he has homeless and had been living in a shelter for the past six months. He said at one point the man got out of the cab to meet a friend, leaving a bag of money behind. When he did not return in 30 minutes, MacCausland drove to man’s hotel to look for him. When he could not find him, MacCausland asked hotel staff to help look for some identification in the bag of money. He then went to nearby police station and turned the money in. Authorities later returned to the unnamed man after police determined he was the rightful owner. The man gave MacCausland a reward for returning the money. Local Police Commissioner William Evans said, “This hackney driver exhibited exemplary behavior and his honest deed should be recognized.”—Jim L. Wilson and Jim Sandell
