An Oregon rancher jumped on his horse and lassoed a man who was attempting to steal a bicycle. Robert Borba was loading dog food and a camping tent into his truck when he heard a woman screaming that someone was trying to steal her bike. Borba got his horse out of the trailer, grabbed a rope, and took off after the man who was struggling with the bicycle’s gears and fleeing on foot. He lassoed the man and dragged him to one end of the parking lot to wait for police. When they arrived officer said this was the first time they had ever seen anything like this, but took them man into custody. Afterward Borba said, “I use a rope every day, that’s how I make my living. It catches cattle pretty good, it catches a bandit pretty good.”—Jim L. Wilson and Jim Sandell
