All human abilities and skills derive from God and are to be dedicated to his glory and the good of others.

Talents are given and sustained by God

1 Corinthians 4:7 ESV

For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?

Skill, ability and knowledge given by God for the making of the Tent of Meeting:

Talents differ

Matthew 25:15 ESV

To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.

Talents need to be developed

2 Timothy 1:6 ESV

Talents are to be devoted to God

For his own glory

1 Peter 4:11 ESV

whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 25:19 ESV
