Notes & Transcripts

It is against the law to insult the King of the Netherlands. A 44-year-old Dutchman, unidentified by police, posted a Facebook rant describing the King as a murderer, rapist, and thief. A court found the man guilty of cursing the Dutch king and sentenced him to 30 days in Jail.

The second commandment warns us not to take the name of the Lord in vain. If we were jailed for 30 days each time we did, our jails would be filled and some of us would spend a lot of time behind bars. The name of the Lord is much more precious than the name Willem-Alexander. (The name of the King of the Netherlands.) —Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell.
