01-GENESIS 33:04

Date: 8/29/2001
Keywords: change, confession, new life, reconciliation

33:4.
But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.

Reconciliation produces change. When I am right with God, my life should be different.
Paul began preaching the gospel when he was reconciled. He became friends with those he once persecuted. He was filled with the Holy Spirit. The Ephesians confessed their sins and burned their magic books. They got rid of those things that represented or were tied to their former sinfulness.
Lord, what do You want from me? Hughes talks about the change in Jacob after God asked his name and he confessed he was the ‘supplanter.’ He got rid of his foreign gods and he and Esau made up.
You asked me my name and I replied selfish. Now You expect me to do something different, to think about others, to do things with the benefit to others in mind. I know that doesn’t work very well if it is motivated by either ‘fear of man’ or being a ‘people-pleaser’ so my thoughts have to be to please You. When I do that, then I will be caring about other people.
Today I go to Rimbey to see Mom. Help me be a blessing to her. Also, I need to get to work on my FBS lesson. Help me think of others as I do it. Thank You.
