Joseph Reginella recently erected a fake 250Ib monument to the victims of a ferry disaster at the southern tip of Manhattan. The memorial features an image of a giant octopus pulling down a ferry full of people. Reginella got the idea for the monument when he was telling a fake story to his 11-year-old nephew while riding the fairy between Manhattan and Staten Island. It made him wonder how gullible people really are.
Reginella said “It’s definitely an experience when you see people who don’t know about it.” “They get this strange look on their face, they stare out at the water and walk away….”
