The World is a dark place
The World is a dark place
I think most of us with any mileage on us realize that the darkness seems darker and more pervasive. The Bible never speaks of "cursing the darkness" but it does say much about the cure for darkness... which is Jesus, the light.
That light shines in the darkness,
yet the darkness did not overcome it.
Jesus is the light of the World
Jesus is the light of the World
Life was in Him,
and that life was the light of men.
That light shines in the darkness,
yet the darkness did not overcome it.
There was a man named John
who was sent from God.
He came as a witness
to testify about the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but he came to testify about the light.
The true light, who gives light to everyone,
was coming into the world.
Its not that he shines light, or brings light, he is light, and as such he shines into the darkness of men.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light — for the fruit of the light results in all goodness, righteousness, and truth — discerning what is pleasing to the Lord. Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.
Some of think that because we are messed up, or we have messed up, that God can fix us up and use us.
Have you noticed that God is an expert at unraveling messes and making them usable (show wadded up Christmas lights)
But sometimes God chooses to let us be His light in our "messed-up-ness" (notice the background)
I saw this on Beth Ashley's Facebook page the other day, and was drawn to it. I believe if God is going to use any of us to be his light, we've got to stop waiting for perfection. If we know Jesus we should shine for others to see Christ in us.
