2Ti 1:1-7. Dan Kroon. This Sunday morning we are starting a new series in 2 Timothy (Fan The Flame). And in this second letter to Timothy, and his last letter overall, Paul encourages his apprentice in faith and ministry – both of which are areas we also need great encouragement in. He does so by reminders of God’s grace and gospel, but also reminders of his relationships and how they are essential to the Christian life. We’ll see that this week as Paul reminds Timothy of God’s gifts (his faith, the Spirit, his calling), of where they come from, of what they’re for, and of how he should fan them into flame and put them into practice. Whatever gifts are handed down to us, we are called to make good use of them.
