God is good. So we going to continue on with our series intitle relationships. And today we going to talk about respecting yourself respecting yourself because you can't be in a relationship worthwhile. Unless you respect yourself. Amen. And the last couple weeks we've been dealing with situations where you got to know who you are to be in any type of successful relationship a man. If you don't know who you are you you cannot be the best person that you can be in any relationship until you end up giving only park or little bit so you have to know who you are where you came from who you belong to and where you going in order to have a successful relationship in and we found out last week that the first relationship that we have to have is our relationship with God Amen. That's number one and then the second relationships that we really have to work on other relationships with each other because it was until we get the relationships with each other right then this whole thing is just going to go crazy in the end. We see what's happening now in the world, that's because we don't have a healthy relationship with each other. Number one. We don't trust each other a man and I am talking about folks here. You know, it's always been a man who ever the collective DNR and they and I'm always say them and they and I'm like, can you introduce me to them? Amen, and so today I want to talk about the importance of self respect. And if you were here earlier, we played the the song you remember that old Staples singles singer song If you don't respect yourself ain't nobody going to give a hoot. You know, there's some reality that if we don't take care and respect our selves nobody is going to care any kind of way and have us doing any kind of thing and a man cuz we won't respect ourselves. So so let's do this. Let's go to are foundational scripture, which is going to be in Mark chapter 12 beginning with verse 30 Celeste and let's put that up there Mark chapter 12 beginning with verse 31 from the Amplified translation because there's there's a lot more to it when we read it from there so together and you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with your soul your life and out of love and with all your mind with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding and out of and with all your strength this The first and principal commandment. The second is like it and is this you shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these amen. And so we going we going to read our confession of Faith together. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Alright, I confession of faith. I'm not move. By what I see. or by what I feel I am moved by what I believe. I believe the word of God the victory is mine. I have it now. I can see it. Through The Eyes of my face In Jesus name amen. You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. So tell your neighbor we got to learn how to respect yourself.

That's really important in the in the text. The Bible gives us two Commandments. Number one is to love God with all our heart soul and strength and then to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. And then then in that second piece, there's two parts that I've number one is you got to love your neighbor, but you can only love your neighbor as you love yourself, right? And so if you can't you can't love anyone if you can't love yourself a man and so starting love starts with respecting who you are, you know, if you don't respect you you aren't you there is no way you can get anybody else to respect you. You know people clinging for people to give them recognition and honor and respect and they don't respect themselves a man. And so I'm hoping that by the end of this this teaching this this message here that it will trigger each and everyone of us to think about places where we have not given ourselves the kind of respect we need and we're expecting other people to do it for us. Does that make sense? So the word is calling us to love our neighbors and then love ourselves and all of this is really contingent Upon Us loving ourselves right now not when I talk about lovers in love ourselves, you know, I'm not talking about you know, that that the new age stuff that's out there. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about loving ourselves. The way God loves us a man doing the things that God would has created and plan and purpose for us to do and not doing the things that the world wants to do wants us to do because the world is designed the terrorist down. Hey man, it's so I something there's a lot of stuff I can do in life. There's a lot of stuff I can do that mean is good for me. A man. I have I have the ability to do amazing things. Don't mean that's going to work for me. It's all I have to look at myself in the position in the and what God has placed me and say, okay. What is it that I'm going to do that will show myself love and my self-respect so that I can Garner it from other people. That makes sense. God has called us to love our neighbors. I'm having a hard time loving somebody who don't look like me act like me talk like me and walk like me because I don't love myself. I want to find fault and then when really I need to deal with myself a man and I have a hard time loving God if I don't love myself. So we all run around talking about I love the Lord. He heard my cry and pitied every groan.

So, how is it that you can love God and you don't love yourself? Why would you put yourself in situations and circumstances that show disrespect for who you are and then turn around and say I love Jesus.

Can we get this thing real because. Watching us and they're watching what we doing safe and they're modeling whatever we do and say nothing and becomes generational.

It's all I hear all these cliches from Falls. I love the Lord. He heard my cry all of that stuff and then go out and do damage to themselves and people are watching them. So they have no respect for themselves and they cannot be

Witnesses in here I know I can speak that because I was there. A man, I know when I thought I was all of this in the bag of chips. I was doing all kind of destructive things to myself and how dare I could so arrogant and say all well, you know, I love when folks to say what then why are you doing that to your temple? Why you doing that to your family? Why are you doing that to your friends? And why are you doing it to yourself? Hey, man, if so, tell your neighbor to respect myself.

If you don't if you don't respect yourself, you'll have a very hard time respecting and loving others. Hear me out here in and this is no disrespect to anyone. Here if we don't get the foundation, right? If you don't get the foundation, right, you can't move into relationship with anyone else because it's not going to work. I don't care if it's a marriage a business and neighborhood. It's not going to work.

Defrost and love us just like God loves us.

to make it through this journey comes from God. We go run and run. I do I said all the time. I do premarital counseling and counseling for folks and they broken because they don't love it themselves. So they expecting to come and rescue them. I need you to be my knight in shining armor, but you know what I came to United Center cuz I'm a broken night.

So we go running around looking for folks to rescue us when we won't turn to the source who can give us 100% of everything we need so we can learn how to respect ourselves and love ourselves as a people. We've been through so much and today.

We can dress it up or we can make it look good. I can spray enough cologne on me to make people be like, you smell good. But on the inside. Where is that's where God can see. I'm broke. I can't love myself. And here's the thing if we stop for a second, we all screaming out. screaming yelling

We just keep walking past behind and. Screen if I don't love myself screaming, I'm hurt. I'm depressed. I'm down. I don't know how to love you cuz I can't love myself and we ignore it all. Because we're in the same boat. Can you help you cuz I can't help myself. a man Donald got quiet on me. I hope this is helping you to think in my family is screaming at me right now saying I'm having a problem loving myself, and I'm ignoring them. Screaming help me. Don't you see what I'm doing to myself? Don't you see how I'm going to scream for help so I can't love you. I can't give you what you need because I need does that make sense?

Bible says love your neighbor. I had and also respect your neighbor as yourself and there's no greater commandment than those two. Keep going.

The second greatest commandment in the Bible is a commandment to love us and has these two parts. Love your neighbor. as yourself Love your neighbor as yourself. Keep going. In Matthew chapter 16 verse 24 in the Bible says that Jesus went to work on his disciples. Listen to this anyone who intends to come to me as to let me leave.

For those of you who didn't know you the church. Amen. This building is not the church. No, no, no Tempo. No Sanctuary no church building. You going to a place where?

So God is saying if you come be with me, you've got to let me leave.

For being honest and transparent.

Jesus the follow up until there's a problem.

Jesus you my Lord. and my safe When you get your lord when things are going well, can I keep this thing real? Amen? Can y'all handle some real word? Not this not the stuff that makes you feel good, but the stuff that's going to make you think and a long can you handle that? The Bible says anyone who tends to come with me has to let me leave you're not in the driver seat. I am don't run from suffering embrace it follow me and I'll show you.

The challenges most of us want everything easy. We want to be comfortable with everything we do I don't want any problems. That's why I come to church or wait a minute. I'm confused cuz you don't want no problem. You say Jesus as your lord and savior, but you go on in the world and creates havoc in your life. Help me understand. What do you really want? Cuz you can't have it both ways. You either want Jesus to leave or you going to leave? Make up your mind.

Which one is it going to be what Jesus Lead you or you going to run the show? a man keep going Then Jesus said to his disciples whoever wants to be my disciple and see again. I tell you there's a difference between a church-going in the in the follower of Christ. Or just come here go through the motions and leave and has it had no effect. When you a disciple of Christ you following you seeking after him you want to know who is. And you spending time with him? Hey, man, that's why I said he didn't say whoever wants to go to my church. Because whoever wants to be my disciple. Now and here's where it gets hard. You can't just do you no more. imma, do me I'm just going to do me. It's all about me. Can't nobody Judge Me Only. God can judge me. Well, he just judged you. Hey, man, you got to deny yourself a man. You can't have everything that's out here cuz it ain't all good for you.

He said you must deny yourself take up your cross and follow me. That means he's leading us and he's leaving us to love him with all our heart all our soul all our strength all our money and to love each other. That would never be drama inside a church.

Probably won't be too busy. Loving each other. We would be too busy trying to make each other feel better and be better as opposed to turn each other down.

How we can build them up? Does that make sense? The only way we can do that as if we allow Jesus to lead us. I'm telling you I can sit here and give you a bunch of platitudes. I could tell you how grateful you I am for you coming to church and I am. Don't get me wrong. But if that don't change your life when you leave up out of here, I've done nothing. The word should penetrate the word to change the word to make you think the word should challenge you. It should not be where you sit in the midst of the word being told to preach and it has no effect on you.

Through the Bible says we must deny ourselves and take up crosses and

In first John chapter 4 beginning with verse 19 talking about this. Love thing. disrespect we love because he first loved us. The ending of our cells we are selfish individuals. self-centered all about me What you put look at what's happening in the world? I get mine and you have to get yours. I'm not necessary trying to help you get yours before I get mine would get mine first and then you get your but he turned the script upside down. He says I'm going to show you how to Love by first loving you. I see sometimes he loved us even when we were in the midst of our drama. Y'all know what that feels like when you were in the midst of your drama when you were in the midst of your worst time when you thought nobody else will accept you guys still.

And he continues to love you, and there's nothing you can do about it when people talk about you when they cut you off when they treated you like you were crap and dirt. God still loves you. Because I'm in your worst day. I'm going to show you I love you. When when you think nobody else will I will I'm going to love you and I will love you through whatever you going through.

And then he says you can love. Because I first loved you.

You can respect yourself. Because I first respect that you. I didn't treat you like the world treated you I didn't kick you out. I accepted you as my child. Someone I love and that's what God is calling us to do for each other. Does that make sense?

Whoever claims to love God get this yet hates a brother or sister. Is a liar.

You know all them people who done ticked you off and you mad and you trying to hold on to that hater Let It Go.

Let It Go You holding on the past hurts and you holding on a past disappointments and you holding on the past lies? And you say you love God and you don't want to be around them and you can't stand them and you did this. Did they let it go?

Because the Bible says if you claim to love God and you hate a brother or sister.

And you know what? You can't christianize that you can't holy roll that you can't do that the Bible calls us as it is. If you say you love God and you sitting around somebody I can't stand I hate that blah blah blah, whatever it is the Bible calls you a liar. And the truth ain't in you. For whoever does not love their brother and sister whom they have seen cannot love God. He may have not seen. so all running around talking about I love the Lord and hateful to my family.

So you don't nobody want to hear that tell me how I can get black Pastor. Tell me how I can get blessed. Will you can't get blessings God is calling you a liar?

Can we keep this thing real?

There's some work we all have to do I can't justify holding on the stuff that God called when God calls me a liar. I want to let that go because if I say, I love God, I hate somebody you seen and love me and you ain't never seen me.

Then we going to do this thing. We got to be in all the way. The most churches is teaching us how to be in part of the way. You can just do the religious part and you can be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want. It's not what the Bible says.

We got everybody running around no wonder Christianity and so confused. Everybody's running around doing whatever they want to do because and nobody don't want to call. Can you imagine if we came together and love on one Accord the work that we can in this?

Is this making sense? Look at that loving yourself is directly connected to loving God. So you can't tell me you love God, when you doing the stuff to yourself that you doing when you disrespected yourself when you disrespecting others when you're when you're doing the things that God is That's Country. In your home in your neighborhood on your job. Come on, y'all how many people you think successfully play the role where they can be all of this in the world and all of this in the church. You got to give. They either they don't they don't say you fake on the church going to say you say which one? a man I'm just keeping this thing really a man cuz we got work to do we got folks in our family and our communities who are hurting and we have nothing to tell them. We have nothing to tell them because we don't know what to tell them because I'm so tired myself for once I can get my stuff together. Then I can tell you about the love of Christ. I can tell you how Jesus love me and I'm next of all.

So I just keep to myself. I'm just going to keep to my little world. And imma do me and I'm getting my little circle and we just don't do each other. I never called you to stay in your little circle. He called you to go out. And how dare we get comfortable with just a little circle with us all around us are hurting people that we say. We love going straight to hell cuz you haven't told him to God.

When you got to be ready for this. But if you want something that's just going to make you feel good about you continuing and you'll see if this ain't the place.

follow another folk, since they feel that way. I'm going to feel that way and you know, that's not how you feel.

We all want to be important to somebody amen. So we do this stuff to try to feel and think that and be important, you know, we say stuff and we get it. We always we want people to recognize us and when they don't then we feeling bad. Can I be can I be honest with y'all just real transfer. I was talking to a pastor friend of mine and I have to be I had to come be very honest and transparent with him. So when I started in Ministry many years ago, I had this this desire I would go to these conferences and I go to these places cuz I wanted someone to come up to me some profit or some some person who was spiritual and come up to me and say will you the one I mean, I'm serious. I I I I desire that so much I wanted to I would position myself and placed myself in the situations where I was hoping people would say. Oh, you're the one I've been waiting for. You know, I I mean I had this fantasy of being that one and it never happened. Nnnn, and so I used to think and no one would know this but I used to think of myself. Now this thing what God called me to do because nobody is pointed me out as being the one A man and so I don't know if you've ever been through anything like that where you wanted someone to recognize you and you wanted to be important you wanted to be special but here's what I came to realize. I am special. I don't need no man. No woman to tell you. This guy is already using me and God is using me to the fullest in the in the place that he wants to use me a man and it took me to really look in the mirror and say, you know, I was running after something that God never intended for me to have It so you have to look at yourself and say what is it that you probably running after trying to get people to recognize you people to say this about you people to lift you up there to make you feel important and it hasn't happened so you don't feel good about yourself. I'm telling you this stuff is reeling in the prom with the church as we not dealing with the real issues that people are dealing with. We're not dealing with Dylan and I love y'all know. I'm a big Faith person. I love Faith and I love God and I love grace and mercy and all those things but some folks just got issues and we got to deal with the real issues cuz they can't hear you talk about faith in faith and grace and mercy if they going through problems amen. So let's deal with the problems.

In Romans Chapter 4 verses 5 through 86 but people are counted as righteousness not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives say the word Center. Who forgives Sinners? That's that's a man. So if we can't.

David also spoke of this when he described the happiness of those who are declared righteous without working for it man. Once I realized the grace that God has given me because as a center, he still loves me. How could I not share that love with somebody else? Amen, I didn't deserve it but God still loves me a man. So now I can walk different. I can talk different I can act different I can think different because I can do it from a place of love a man as opposed to a place of jealousy or angry man. Keep going. Bible says oh what a joy for those who whose disobedience is Forgiven whose sins are put out of sight? Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared us in I have a clean slate. Can you imagine what the what happens when you get a clean slate to get to start over? That's what happens every morning new Grace and new Mercy we get to start all over again. Let the past go to bring our past into our presents and into the future. You got to let the past go up when you wake up in the morning Queen's Right. I got up.

I want you to read Mark chapter 12 2 verses 30 and 31 get up in the morning. Whenever you get up and read it daily readings daily. Read it daily. I'm not asking a lot but I tell you if you read the Scriptures Daily you getting your spiritual food. Amen. You cannot let this world snacks that time from you get up read it daily. Identify one person family member who ever share your testimony as to why you follow Christ. I mean we can share everything else right? You see a good movie and eat some good food you telling everybody about it? But tell somebody why you following Christ. Why you are a Christ follower a man. Why you love the Lord why you act as your best you're trying to do everything you can to make God happy.

Amen, and then I I want and I challenge everybody to get involved with a Ministry a project at UCF. Especially we have a Easter team that cuz I'mma tell you I meant ladies I'm I'm sorry. I don't mean just mad you like Easter is an amazing time for us to go out. and share Who We Are cuz we know all kind of phones come to church on Easter. Right? So we got to be ready to receive them and some of them will be hurting and they will want an introduction of Jesus Christ that's amazing time for us to go out and share Duke do evangelism working and just share with people our testimony. And so here's what I want you to do is send your program want to start praying for us starting today for what God will do for us on Easter Sunday. I want to start praying that I pray pray. I want I want God to I want a guy to see that we're ready for him to send through those doors the hurt the disenfranchised those who who who can't forgive themselves and I want them to feel the kind of love. The Amazing Grace and love that God has given to each out to each one of us. I want them to feel it and I want to introduce them to someone who loves them even no matter where they're at. But I need all of us to be praying right now starting now. This is what starting early early enough that we can be praying for what God will do for this ministry at Easter Service. So that's the that's the challenge Tuesday night bible study for anybody who's been there on Tuesday night. Y'all know we have a good time of discussion. Amen, and we will challenge each other a man and we will push and we will correct some stuff a man if it ain't live it ain't right and it's all done out of love a man and when we leave up out of there we leave about as family amen to this day unless y'all having some I don't know anybody who's left stop all angry man and see I ain't never coming back to that Bible study cuz they crazy up in there. Just kidding. I'm just kidding. And then again invite someone to Sunday worship.
