Read Text Colossians 1:3-27
Colossians 1:3–27 KJV 1900
We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ; Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church: Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

You ain't seen nothing yet

When the church is the church we have reason to give thanks.

Read Colossians 1:4
Colossians 1:4 KJV 1900
Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
A faithful church
Paul heard of their faith
It was expressed in their love
Read Colossians 1:5
Colossians 1:5 KJV 1900
For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
A word church
They found their hope in the word of Truth
They heard the word
They embraced the word
1 Thessalonians 2:13 KJV 1900
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
John 8:31–32 KJV 1900
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Read Colossians 1:9-10
Colossians 1:9–10 KJV 1900
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
We are praying for you
That you might be filled
Knowledge of his will
Wisdom
Spiritual understanding
To walk worthy of the Lord
Know the will of God
Know the way of God
Know the mind of God
Proverbs 2:1–5 KJV 1900
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, And liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, And searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.
The goal is
To please God in all things
Be fruitful in every good work
To increase in the knowledge of God
Read Colossians 1:11, Psalms 121:2
Colossians 1:11 KJV 1900
Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
Psalm 121:2 KJV 1900
My help cometh from the LORD, Which made heaven and earth.

We must know we're our help comes from.

Our strength
Comes from the Lord
According to his glorious power
Through it we have Joy in
Patience
Long suffering
Colossians 1:21–23 KJV 1900
And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Remember where you have come from
Aliens
Enemies of God
Through him we
have redemption
Presented holy and unblameable
Unreproveable in his sight.
No fault zone
Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin left a crimson Stain
He washed me whiter than snow

Don't let his work be in vain

Continue in the faith
Be grounded
Be settled
Don be moved away
Hold on to that hope

Hope found in the gospel.

This was just the beginning

You ain't seen nothing yet.
Read Colossians 1:27
Colossians 1:27 KJV 1900
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
If you hold on
Better things are ahead
God will give you what you need
He will be an adequate supply
1 John 4:4 KJV 1900
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
You ain't seen nothing yet
God will make you know the true riches of the glory contained in this mystery.
No more surface work
Luke 8:10 KJV 1900
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
What is that mystery?

Christ in you

Ephesians 2:1–3 KJV 1900
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Ephesians 2:5–7 KJV 1900
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV 1900
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The hope of Glory.

We have a reason to give thanks
We are a people of Faith
We are people of the Word
We are growing in our knowledge of him
2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV 1900
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet

Acts 1:8 KJV 1900
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
1 John 2:20 KJV 1900
But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
That which God has placed in us is the key to bring hope to a hopeless generation.
