Discovering how God sets us Up for Deliverance and Glory

Files
Notes & Transcripts

The History of Israel teaches us everything we need to know in order to believe in God’s delivering ability
The history of Israel teaches us that no force on earth can stop God’s plan when it comes to his children
There is no direct archaeological evidence for the Israelites being in Egypt
There is no direct archaeological evidence for the exodus
There is Egyptian record of Israel being a people later on - because they talk of beating them
Israel Stele slide.....1213 to 1203 BC
Exodus Slides..traditional - non traditional...
This experience of the deliverance of Israel by God is a dramatic statement of:
God’s ability to deliver and protect his children
God’s promise that he will never forsake us
An example of how God strategically sets things up for his purpose
The crossing of the Red sea gives us vital information about how God works
So we don’t have to freak out.
Here is God setting it all up
Exodus 14:1–18 NLT
Then the LORD gave these instructions to Moses: “Order the Israelites to turn back and camp by Pi-hahiroth between Migdol and the sea. Camp there along the shore, across from Baal-zephon. Then Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are confused. They are trapped in the wilderness!’ And once again I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will chase after you. I have planned this in order to display my glory through Pharaoh and his whole army. After this the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD!” So the Israelites camped there as they were told.
Crossing slides....
Does it sound like God has a plan?
How often have we got into a fret when everything looks dire
How often have we doubted God’s hand at work in a difficult situation
Loose a job
Miss an opportunity
Medical situation
We react too quickly and doubt that God is in the situation setting it up for something good
Last week we learned how God told Abraham to obey him and go to a place he never knew....
This time God was deliberately putting them in a trap
In both cases it took faith to trust that it was going to make sense
In both cases God had a plan
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
God’s Plan for Israel was to put them in a situation where they could not win without God intervening
So you and I would learn what God is capable of doing

God wanted to show them and US that when there is no human possibilities....There are God possibilities
The bible has shown that when we humans get to the end of our ability
We usually loose faith
The Israelites did just that
Exodus 14:11–14 NLT
and they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt? Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’ ” But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
A vital secret to walking in God’s plan
JUST STAY CALM
Be still and know that I am God
They had ZERO faith…
They would rather stay with the devil they know
Than a God they do not trust or believe
How many times have we stayed with what we knew / comfortable with
Instead of stepping out into risk, growth and the unknown
Many would rather stay a slave to fear, doubt and mediocrity
Than take a chance on trying something new
Moving out of a terrible relationship and situation
Or believing life could be better or different
God may have your back against the wall of life so that you will finally allow him to show you his power
God had done all of the miracles in Egypt yet when the trial came faith disappeared
I guarantee that God is maneuvering things in your lives for change, growth and discovery
Philippians 1:6 NLT
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
We need to be ready to have the same feelings and reactions as the Egyptians
Why.....
Because it is a human reaction
You and I are still human
God’s deliverance of the Israelites is there to tell us
When everything say you can’t God says you can
When it looks like life is going to take you down..God can make a way
