Introduction

Hebrews 6:1–3 NASB95
Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment. And this we will do, if God permits.

LET US LEAVE

Why is the writer telling us to leave basic teachings about Christ?
Hebrews 5:13 NASB95
For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
Look at previous chapter verse 13. Basic Teachings or the elementary Doctrine is the Milk of the word.” partaking only of milk makes you inexperienced at righteousness. Inexperienced at knowing at understanding and living in God’s character. The Bible describes this believer as being a spiritual infant.
author is not speaking to brand new believers but to people that have been around for a while.
he is trying to teach on advanced things about Christ but he can’t because they have become dull of hearing.

Hebrews 5:14
Hebrews 5:14
let us be carried on to maturity or completeness. the maturing process can't simply come about but this does require a person's own responsibility You can't be carried to spiritual maturity if you have no desire to be mature.
You reach maturity when you are able to know understand and live by everything that Jesus teaches us
If you are struggling with foundation things then you are not a mature christian. you are still a babe in Christ
Let us leave and let us go on. In order to achieve this type of progress we must do Backward and a forward look

THE FOUNDATION

What is the significance of having a foundation?
Luke 6:46–49 NASB95
“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? “Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. “But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”
Luke 6:46-49

Luke 6:46–49
The steps for building a good spiritual foundation are
Come to Jesus...
Hear his words (his doctrine)...
Hear his words (his doctrine)...
And act on them.
And act on them.
You can know the Word and still not act upon it.
Jesus is not truly Lord of your life until you respond to His teachings.
A good foundation is based on the Word of God. The man who came to Jesus, heard His Word, and then acted on it is called wise. This man made sure the spiritual foundation of His life was firm. He "digged deep" removing everything between him and the Rock, Jesus Christ.God's Word is the plan which shows how to build your spiritual life
