INTRODUCTION:
1. Today, we are going to lead into a new series on the Armor of God.
A. We are going to be looking at over the next few weeks.

In each of these verses, there is a lesson that needs to be learned before we start looking at each individual piece of the armor and what it does for us as Christians.
A. We need to be strong in the Lord.
B. , We need the whole armor of God in order to stand.
C. We need to realize that the armor does not protect us from flesh and blood.
D. We need to do all that we can to stand.
B. Today, we will begin with —the strong knight of God.
BODY:
1. WE NEED TO BE STRONG IN THE LORD.
A. As Christians, why do we need to be strong in the Lord?

Notice why Moses told Joshua to be strong; there are two reasons given.
Deut
A. One, you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them.
1. Joshua was to be a leader, one whom the children of Israel could follow.
A. As Christians, we are to be this type of a leader and it takes strength to lead.
B. Jesus said that His followers are to be the light of the world so that other may see your good works.
Jesus said this because He understood that people need strong people who can show them the way.
Matt 5.14-
Acts 8:
2. Paul understood this and told the the church at Rome:
Rom 10:14-
B. Two, why did Joshua need to be strong?
Because “you shall cause them to inherit (the promise land) it.”

The church at a specific location will either stay faithful to God or not based on its leaders; therefore, leaders must stay strong in the Lord.
A. This is one of the reasons God gave the church elders or shepherds—to lead the church home (the promise land) safely.
1 Peter 5.2-
B. But this concept does not just apply to the elders; it applies to every one of us.
As Christians, we should inspire the people around us to want to be like us.
C. If we are the pattern and those around us follow us, then they will go to the same place we will.
Thus, we will have caused them to inherit heaven at the end of their journey, just as Joshua was the pattern for the Israelites, and he caused them to inherit the promise land at the end of their journey.
Titus 2.1-
B. Where is this strength to come from?
1.
It is to come from the Lord.
A. Joshua was told to be strong because the “Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
B. This is the same for us today; our strength should come from the Lord.

We should be strong, just as Joshua was, because God will never leave us nor forsake us.
C. How are we strengthened by the Lord?
1.
By becoming strong in faith.
A. How are we strengthened in faith?
1.
We strengthen our faith by studying God’s Word; therefore, God gives us strength through His Word.
Rom 419-20
2. Since Jesus is the Word, He is the reason we have strength and all things are possible.
CONCLUSION:
1.
We all need to understand this before we will ever understand the importance of the Armor of the Lord.
A. If we are going to put on the Armor of the Lord, we must be strong.

A knight in medieval times was not weak; he was strong, in order to carry the weight of the armor but not only that, he was strong because it was his duty to protect the weak.
A. If we are going to be God’s knight and wear His armor, then we must be strong; there are no weak knights.
