Intro
What is something that you would want to protect
What is something that you would want to make sure would always continue
Tonight we are going to look at how God protected the spreading of the Gospel and provided for Paul along the way.
Protection Through People ()
Here Paul meets Aquila and Priscilla who were from Rome.
We do not know if they were Christians before they met Paul or after but they were Christians and they worked with Paul and were great friends and partners in the spreading of the Gospel
Listen to “Greet Prisca and Aquilla, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks but all the churches of the Gentiles give thanks as well.”
Paul states that all the Gentile churches give thanks to these people which means they must have been influential in the spreading of the Gospel because in order to have a church you must have the sharing of the Gospel and people responding in faith
So God used people to help protect the spreading of the Gospel
Protection Through Resources ()
Once Paul was in Corinth Silas and Timothy come with good news and resources.
The good news was that the Christians in Thessalonica were reaming faithful to God
The resources they brought was an offering from the church in Philippi
But we also see another things happen which is that Paul leaves the synagogue because the Jews so strongly opposed Paul and would not listen to him.
So now Paul didn’t have a popular place to share the Gospel.
But God provided a house right next door to the synagogue where Paul could preach and people could come and listen and it was on the way to the synagogue.
So it was a very strategic resource that God had provided so that the Gospel would spread.
Protection Through Protection (
So that the Gospel would spread God protected Paul.
Remember all the horrible events Paul had gone through.
God reveals to Paul that he doesn’t need to worry about that here because God would protect him.
How much do you think that would have encouraged Paul?
Protection Through the Courts (
Charges are brought and the implications if found guilty would reach to beyond the city into the rest of Roman territory
But God protected which allowed Paul and fellow Christians to continue in spreading the Gospel not only in Corinth but also in other cities without them having to fear they were violating any sort of law.
Application for Us
For Christians we should be people who protect and spread the Gospel
we should be people who use our resources to protect the spread of the Gospel
we should be willing and unafraid to share the Gospel because God has protected us here
For the unbeliever, God does all this, he protects the Gospel and makes all this happen so that you can be saved and that you can glorify him!
