UNDER COVER - JESUS

(What does covering mean? Protection - under the sheet example)
I’ve seen firsthand that when someone harnesses the revelation of covering and submits to spiritual authority, the wind shifts in that person’s life. Instead of resistance, he feels the wind accelerating him toward his destiny.
TESTIMONY OF A WORLD CHANGER - Mr. Delavega and the winter youth camp example

Jesus demonstrated the power of honoring and submitting to authority

Luke 2:41–52 NLT
Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. When Jesus was twelve years old, they attended the festival as usual. After the celebration was over, they started home to Nazareth, but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents didn’t miss him at first, because they assumed he was among the other travelers. But when he didn’t show up that evening, they started looking for him among their relatives and friends. When they couldn’t find him, they went back to Jerusalem to search for him there. Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. His parents didn’t know what to think. “Son,” his mother said to him, “why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been frantic, searching for you everywhere.” “But why did you need to search?” he asked. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they didn’t understand what he meant. Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. And his mother stored all these things in her heart. Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.
Discuss story - Why did Jesus need favor from God?
Imagine being God and submitting yourself to parents, government leaders, soldiers, etc.
Why do you think Jesus modeled this for us?
What did Jesus want us to have in our lives?
Jesus demonstrated a heart completely in submission to the authority and covering of His Father in Heaven.

WHAT IF…

your honor of your parents resulted in your life being filled with unparalleled favor and blessing with God and man.
Time after time, Jesus would follow the leading of His Father—moving, ministering, and drawing aside as He was directed. Even when it meant dying an excruciating death on a cross, He said, “…yet not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42 NIV). Because of this obedience and perfect alignment with His Heavenly Father, Paul tells us the Father rewarded Jesus by raising Him into the highest position of all authority and power that will ever exist. (See Ephesians 1:20-23.)
Father God modeled for us the heart of true spiritual covering—not to use and abuse people, but to release and empower them into their unique callings. The power of what Jesus and Father God did—with Jesus choosing to completely honor His Father’s leadership and the Father choosing to radically honor and promote Jesus—ended with not only each of them being blessed, but billions of people on the planet being blessed, too!

WHAT IF…

as you honor God, He extravagantly honors you? Have you considered what would happen if we adopted the love modeled in Scripture between fathers and sons? It could change the world!

PRAYER

Ephesians 3:20 NLT
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
God, You are able to do abundantly beyond all that I can imagine!
Ephesians 2:4,6
Ephesians 2:4 NLT
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,
Ephesians 2:6 NLT
For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
God, You are the one who has extravagantly honored me!
John 5:19 NLT
So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
Jesus, You are a perfect Son who is full of honor for Your Father. Help me to have the same honor for those you put into my life to guide me.
