INTRODUCTION:
1.
Each piece of the Armor of God is important.
Acts 20
A. The whole armor is needed to fight the spiritual war.
B. The Sword of the Spirit is an important part of the Armor of God.

The rest of the armor protects you so that you can use the Sword, but the Sword both protects you and the ones whom it is your aim to protect.
A. If you are wearing the Armor of God, you are protected because God’s Armor is impenetrable and therefore, you should be bold to go into war and fight.
B. This is where the Sword comes into play, because the war needs to be fought.
2 Timothy 6.12
1.
There are those who need to be protected and those who need to be saved.
2. Pure and undefiled religion before God (paraphrasing): ‘Protect the ones who cannot protect themselves.’
C. Ask yourself three questions:
1. Do you have the Sword available to use?
A. In order to be able to use the Sword, you must know how to obtain the Sword.
B. In order to be able to obtain the Sword, one must understand and acknowledge it’s power.
C. In order to obtain the Sword, one must understand that he needs the Sword.
2. Do you know how to use the Sword?
A. Ask yourself three questions to determine if you know how to use the Sword.
1. Are you willing to learn how to use the Sword properly?
A. Every soldier must be willing to learn how to use his weapon properly.

B. What does it mean to be willing to learn to use the Sword properly?

One must be willing to put in hours of diligent study.
2. One must be willing to seek God with his whole heart.
2. Are you willing to teach others to use the Sword properly?
A. This is the question we are asking today.
3. Are you willing to be an example of how to use the Sword properly?
A. This lesson will be next week.
3. Will you survive the war?
A. This is the question we will ask in two weeks to wrap up our lessons on the individual pieces of Armor of God.

A. Are you willing to teach others to use the Sword properly?

B. Making disciples can be done in many ways so that all of the family of God can take part.
1. Teaching children is a very important way of making disciples and is accomplished in many ways.
A. Teaching your own children is one way of fulfilling the Great Commission.

B. Teaching your grandchildren to be faithful is another way of fulfilling the Great Commission.

C. Getting involved in the church’s outreach programs for children such as Bible classes, Vacation Bible School, and youth rallies is another way.

This is accomplished by being a mentor.
2. This is accomplished by teaching both children and adult Sunday School classes.

This is accomplished by being a part of the local church’s activities.

A. Notice in that all of the roles involve teaching.
B. This is because of what is said in verse twelve.

We all have the responsibility of equipping the saints and edifying the body of Christ.
CONCLUSION:
1. Do you know how to use the Sword?
A. Are you willing to get involved by:
1. Teaching children.
2. Teaching the lost.
3. Teaching young adult Christians.
4. Being involved in the worship services?
5. Being involved in the church’s activities?
B. An uninvolved Christian is dead.
C. If you are not teaching others to use the Sword properly, you don’t know how to use the Sword.
