Recap
Joseph’s birth came from a long season of frustration
Ultimately he was born and brought the joy he was intended to bring to Rachel and Jacob
He had dreams that clearly demonstrated God’s calling on his life.
He bragged to his brothers about his own future greatness.
God (and his brothers) worked out a path for Joseph to grow up and be ready for his calling.
It was a hard road.
Outline of this season
Joseph is successful
Joseph has temptations
Joseph is accused
joseph is Imprisoned
Seems like history repeating itself
, Potiphar’s house
Joseph’s path through the Midianites seemed to make him ready to serve Potiphar.
We don’t know much about his treatment at the hands of the Midianites, but he went from “dreamer” to servant.
In Potiphar’s house, Joseph becomes successful by making Potiphar successful.
In the company I work for now, people complain about how rich my boss is.
Those people aren’t the ones who are successful.
Working for another’s success is one of the ways God will open a door to your success.
We know that God is no man’s debtor, so what do you think happens when you carry the heart of Joseph into your workplaces?
Each one of us has been given total dominion.
You are called to rule and reign with God, but the one thing you have to do is be set apart for God.
You can have it all, just don’t let the world have it’s foothold in you.

“Lord this week I ask that you help me make others successful.
Let my effort build their house.”
-working for God, not money (aside)
In Potiphar’s house he has been given dominion over everything, but just one thing he must not touch.
Sound familiar?
Each one of us has been given total dominion.
You are called to rule and reign with God, but the one thing you have to do is be set apart for God.
You can have it all, just don’t let the world have it’s foothold in you.
And day after day she comes tempting him, just like we experience.
“buy that fancy new car, you deserve it, and besides, people will respect you more”
“make sure you wear the right clothes and put on the best appearance”
“get that credit score up and buy that house!”
“have another drink, you work hard”
“do what feels good, you need a break”
These are obviously less sinister than what Potiphar’s wife is saying to Joseph, but frankly, the lusts of the flesh have a lot of different approaches, and they are all bad.
Joseph is super faithful, and super blessed.
regardless of which comes first, it’s appropriate theology.
Faithfulness is an appropriate response to blessing, and God’s blessing is an appropriate expectation to our decisions to remain faithful.
In the midst of doing right, Joseph is falsely accused, and imprisoned.
He doesn’t flee, he doesn’t fight back.
Like a lamb to the slaughter, he is silent.
Sound familiar?
Ever want to just run away from your troubles?
Ever want to fight back and teach the world a lesson?
Ever look at your life and say “what is going on, did I miss it?
This can’t be my calling!”
In Prison, Joseph is still blessed.
The calling of God is not forgotten, and the blessing of God is still present.
Joseph’s heart stays faithful.
He probably had access to the keys that could liberate him, but he served all the more faithfully and did not try to rescue himself!
Let’s stand:
Three ministry calls today
-if you are in a season where you know you are in the right place and have been faithful, but the accusation is coming against you, we want to lay hands on you, and pray for you to be filled with the Holy Ghost to be empowered to REMAIN faithful and press through this.
-If you know you have given in to those worldly temptations and want to have those areas forgiven and washed Jesus, we want to lay hand on you too, and pronounce forgiveness and ask Holy Spirit to strengthen you
-And if you are in the place where you feel you have been called by God, and you are looking around your circumstances saying “how can this be part of my calling?
What is going on God?” We want to lay hands on you too and pray that God will give you peace in the journey and provisions from Heaven to get through.
