Introduction

A. Christ’s Example

1. No Tit For Tat 1 Peter 2:23

1 Peter 2:23 NKJV
who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

2. He bore our sins that we might live unto righteousness.

1 Peter 2:24 NKJV
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

3. As sheep, we are once again in the sheepfold.

1 Peter 2:25 NKJV
For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

B. Christian Examples

1. Submission of wives to husbands

Ephesians 5:22 NKJV
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Colossians 3:18 NKJV
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

2. This was directed to wives with unsaved husbands, or husbands that were saved but would not obey the Word of God.

3. These men are won by the purity of a Godly woman’s life!

Titus 2:5 NKJV
to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

4. Not by the outside appearance, but the inner anointing.

1 Timothy 2:9–11 NKJV
in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.
A woman with this kind of inner beauty is precious to God!

C. Sarah’s Conduct

1. Sarah obeyed Abraham

2. Sarah Called Him “Lord.”

Genesis 18:12 NKJV
Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”

D. Husband’s Consideration

1 Peter 3:7 NKJV
Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

1. Be considerate and understanding.

2. Treat wives as the weaker partner.

This refers to physical or emotional weakness. Not intellectual inferiority.

3. If not, their prayers would be hindered.

Job 42:7–8 NKJV
And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”
