It Is Christ We Serve

It is Christ we serve, not each other.

The suffering we see and hear,

In the world of others and our own,

Is the pain of Christ Himself.

It is Christ we hurt, not each other.

The suffering that we inflict,

With our thoughts, our  words, and our  actions,

Is the hurt of Christ Himself.

It is Christ we hold, not each other.

The arms that wrap tight around us,

Pleading with us for mercy and love,

Are the arms of Christ Himself.

It is Christ we serve, not each other.

The tears that fall on our shoulder,

From the broken we hold in our arms,

Are the tears of Christ Himself.
