Having Faith When We Are Called

What excuses are you making that leave you feeling unqualified?

In my life I have made plenty of mistakes and I can almost bet that I’m not finished making them.

God does not qualify or unqualify us based on our past (I don’t believe),

I believe the doctrine of election, because I am quite sure that if God had not chosen me I should never have chosen him; and I am sure he chose me before I was born, or else he never would have chosen me afterwards.

I believe your future is based off your relationship with God and your attitude in this present time.

Scripture reminds us of that.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

And before you were born I consecrated you;

I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good Pleasure.

How your about life daily will determine your destiny.

Your ATTITUDE about life DAILY will determine your destiny.

The story I am talking about today is one of the 1st books of the Bible I ever really studied,

so I felt it necessary to share it with you as my 1st. . .

I feel a sense of relation to the way Moses was called and the way I to-- was called.

A reminder to me that we don’t have to be perfect to follow Gods call on our lives.

But we do have to be willing to fight and get back up when we fall.

Because we will both fight and fall.

Many men owe the grandeur of their lives to their tremendous difficulties.

In the book of we read an account of Moses’s life thru Stephen’s defence.

He was raised for 3 months in his father’s home before being sent down river to be rescued by Pharaoh’s daughter, who had her maiden’s (Mosses’s mom)() care for the child till he was older and was returned to Pharaoh’s daughter who named him Moses (Because she drew him out of the water).

Moses was educated in all the Egyptian learning and was a man of great power and deeds ().

Around the age of 40 he wanted to revisit the sons of Isreal,

upon his arrival he noticed one of them being treated unjustly he defended him by killing the Egyptian who was doing the harm to his fellow brother.

And he supposed that his brethren understood that God was granting them deliverance through him, but they did not understand.

The next day Moses witnessed two brethren fighting together, when he tried to reconcile them, one of them said. . .

.WHO MADE YOU A RULER AND JUDGE OVER US? ( NASB)

I believe that was a demon speaking through him trying to put doubt in Mosses’s mind because he knew he was destined for great things (but that’s just me)

They had also brought up the Egyptian Moses had killed the following day.

and at this Moses fled to the land of Midian where he became the father of two sons (Gershom and Eleizer)().

When moses was about the age of 80 an angel appeared to him in a burning bush ()

Mosses marveled at this an approached the bush Then the Voice of the Lord came from the Bush Saying. . .

I AM THE GOD OF YOUR FATHERS, THE GOD OF ABRAHAM AND ISAAC AND JACOB.’

Moses shook with fear and would not venture to look.

BUT THE LORD SAID TO HIM, ‘TAKE OFF THE SANDALS FROM YOUR FEET, FOR THE PLACE ON WHICH YOU ARE STANDING IS HOLY GROUND.

In the book of Exodus read 1:1-11

I HAVE CERTAINLY SEEN THE OPPRESSION OF MY PEOPLE IN EGYPT AND HAVE HEARD THEIR GROANS, AND I HAVE COME DOWN TO RESCUE THEM; COME NOW, AND I WILL SEND YOU TO EGYPT.’ ( NASB)

Flipping over to Exodus

1st Doubt

But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that i should go to pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Isreal out of Egypt?” ( NASB)

probably the same thing we would say if God was to call us to that task.

I know I would.

I said that about even being here this morning.

Who am I to speak to a room of pastors and other men of highly qualified rank.

Who am I?

I’m the one who was voted less likely to succeed by most of his family and peers.

Who am I?

“This Moses whom they disowned, saying, ‘WHO MADE YOU A RULER AND A JUDGE?’ is the one whom God sent to be both a ruler and a deliverer with the help of the angel who appeared to him in the thorn bush.

And He said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.”

( NASB)

Read Exodus 3:13-22

2nd Doubt

Then Moses said, “What if they do not believe me or listen to what I say?

For they may say, “The Lord has not appeared to you,” ( NASB)

Moses was educated in all the learning of the Egyptians, and he was a man of power in words and deeds.

after God showed Moses all the signs he is to perform, ().

Moses then said ()

Then Moses said to the Lord, “ Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue” ( NASB)

3rd Doubt

Remember in We read how Moses was educated in all the learning of the Egyptian.

this was before he knew he was called

After he was called

I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue” ( NASB)

Its funny after God calls us to do something we feel unqualified and all the sudden we become ignorant.

The LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth?

Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind?

Is it not I, the LORD?

Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say.” ( NASB)

And just as I would say. . .

And do say all the time. . .

Moses said. . .

. . .

“Please, Lord, now send the message by whomever You will.”

( NASB)

Another translation reads. . .

But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord.
