Jesus is the founder of our faith

He is the author
He is the publisher
Jesus is the one and only mediator between God and us.
Without the mediator, we would have no faith.
Without salvation through faith in Jesus, we would still be dead in our sin.
Jesus is the perfecter of our faith
Jesus perfected the relationship with God that no one else could.
Therefore, Jesus is our perfecter.
At the moment of salvation, we gave Him our imperfect and He gave us His perfection.
Implications
Because Jesus is the founder and perfecter of our faith, He he already ran the race for us and is awaiting us at the finish line.
Therefore, as we run our race we are called to fix our eyes on Him at the destination, at the finish line. Remembering all that Jesus is and what He has done for us. That enables us to keep going.
