Intro-

This past school year hudson started a elementary drama club and since Courtney thinks she has to be part of every club at the school he had to join this club as well. As they were practicing she kept telling me about the number of kids that they had in the club and all I could think was great this play is going to take forever. But as the night approached and she kept giving us more info she told us more about the kids in the club, this kid does this, this kid does that we have so and so making sets, this one is the one who opens the curtains, this one hands out the mic’s so forth and so on, then finally she said you know it takes a lot a people to make the show work.

Prop-

I thought about that as I looked at these three men this week. We have James, Simon and Judas. These three men served as apostles yet they spent almost their entire lives in the background, they re kind of like the stage crew while the others were out on the stage. tonight as we look at them we will be in Hebrews chapter 11 to see what God’s word says about those who are of the faith.
The Celebrity (1-34)
The Crew (35-38)
The Common Factor (6)(39-40)

The Celebrity

We see Some pretty well known People on this list
This has been called the hall of fame of faith
A look at the names
Hebrews 11:4 ESV
By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.
Hebrews 11:5 ESV
By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.
Hebrews 11:7 ESV
By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
Hebrews 11:8 ESV
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Hebrews 11:11 ESV
By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
Hebrews 11:23 ESV
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
Hebrews 11:32 ESV
And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets—

The Crew

Hebrews 11:35–38 ESV
Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
Not even mentioned by name
women
others
definitely the lesser known
What happened
Suffered
flogged
sawed in half
never left the faith
served no matter the cost
Whom the world was not worthy
some awesome people
not because of who they were
because of their faith
Just like these three apostles
not a lot said about them
but they served by faith

The Common factor

-The celebrity lived and served by faith
The Crew lived and served by faith
Faith is the common factor
it wasn't who they were
their position or background or training it was their faith
You cant please God without faith.
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
They had faith in God for their Salvation
Hebrews 11:39–40 ESV
And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
They didn't know how he would provide it
they trusted he would
well known or little known faith was in the same place.

For us:

How does our faith look?
Are we willing to step out, are we willing to do great things?
Are we trusting the one who called us ?
For us:
