5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him

What is this Message about?
This message is about making sure that we come to God in prayer with the right attitude. That means prayer is not about receiving a blessing, healing or notoriety because of our skill in praying. It is about acknowledging God as our Lord and making Him the center of our attention.
There are not special words, there are no patterns of speech that impress God. The only people that are impressed with high handed or emotional words are people. Prayer for People to view is not going to lead to power. It is the prayer in private that lends public manifestation of God.
God is involved in our lives so much that He already knows what you and I need before we ask Him. He already wants to meet our deepest desires, our private prayer time allows God to help us understand what those really are. By starting in private in a Humble state God prepares us for His greatness to show itself to us. Then when God moves in a powerful way in a public setting God truly gets the credit.

Why is this important?
How many times have you prayed out loud for something like healing or you said something in the spur of the moment that did not happen. When this happens on a regular basis people begin to thin that either I am not as close to God as I thought I was or God is not really interested in our needs. When we seek God in private He eliminates this well meaning but impulsive display by making Himself so clear that we can ask with Holy confidence instead of asking with youthful optimism alone.

What do I want them to do?
I want people to be able to pray in public with confidence that they are praying God’s will and not Man’s will.
Share your heart with God
This means seeking God in earnest
I want people to be able to pray in public with confidence that they are praying God’s will and not Man’s will.
Seek God’s confirmation in Scripture
Invite another in prayer for confermation (Where two or Three)
Seek God’s confirmation in Scriputre
Proclaim it confidently and humbly in public
Praise God publically when it comes to fruition
What is the one prevalent Theme?
Our private prayer gives power to our public prayer. If we are not spending time in private with God then why would we expect any public manifestation of God's power through public prayer?
