Paul and Silas were the epitome of ...
17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil.(see next note)
Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
When you obey God - God does His good work of CONVICTION in OTHERS.
Paul and Silas ---- simply believed -- God does "all things well" --- even their imprisonment
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
God saved you ---- to live in such a way --- that he gets glory!
27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;
28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are,
29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
A sovereign God --- not only works thru people --- but he also "works thru nature"
26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.
COULDN'T BE WORSE FOR THE JAILER
27 When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.
He is a man of Honor / he lived in a shame and honor culture
