Colossians 1:15–17 NKJV
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Colossians 1:19–20 NKJV
19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
COLOSSIANS 1
INTRODUCTION With the power of His Word, God created everything. He made a vast universe filled with creations and creatures that proclaim His power. From the tiniest microbe to the largest galaxy, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands.” (, HCSB)
The Hubble telescope
The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a space telescope that was launched into low Earth orbit in 1990 and remains in operation. Although not the first space telescope, Hubble is one of the largest and most versatile, and is well known as both a vital research tool and a public relations boon for astronomy. The HST is named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble, and is one of NASA's Great Observatories,

This same God created each one of us —He knows us by name, and He cares about every detail of our lives. Even before we turned our backs on Him, God had a radical rescue plan to save us. Jesus, our Creator, came to pay the price for our rebellion so that we have the opportunity to experience eternal life. He has made a way for us to enjoy the forever friendship He intended for us to have from the very beginning.

1-JESUS CREATED EVERYTHING, AND HE MADE US IN HIS IMAGE. WE ARE MADE TO ENJOY A FOREVER FRIENDSHIP WITH HIM.

A-When the universe was created, Jesus was there.

In fact, He has always been! .
Genesis 1:1 NKJV
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
John 1:1 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He, along with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, spoke everything into existence. Everywhere we look, we can see the power and glory of God.

B- People are a very special creation of God.

We are made in His image. He made us to enjoy a special friendship and love relationship with Him that will last forever. God also made us to manage the earth and have dominion over it.
Genesis 1:26–31 NKJV
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
GENESIS 1

2-OUR SIN SEPARATES US FROM OUR PERFECT CREATOR.

A-Since the beginning, every person has turned her back on God.

Genesis 3:1–7 NKJV
1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” 4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

B-Our sinful nature causes us all to think, say, and do things that go against Him.

Romans 3:10 NKJV
10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

C-Every one of us is separated from God and deserves eternal judgment.

Romans 6:23 NKJV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3-GOD HIMSELF CAME TO RESCUE US. HIS RESURRECTION PROVES JESUS IS GOD. HIS FORGIVENESS IS AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE IN THE WORLD TODAY, INCLUDING YOU!

A-The God of the universe came to earth in the form of a man.

Jesus is the perfect God-Man.
John 1:1–3 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
:1-3
JOHN 1:1-3
John 1:9–10 NKJV
9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
JOHN 1:
Think about saying “Jesus” in place of “The Word” to help people understand that John is talking about Jesus here.)

B-Because He is God, He never sinned and didn’t deserve to die. Jesus (God) made a choice to pay for our sin.

His death on the cross and His resurrection makes forgiveness available to everyone.
Colossians 1:15–17 NKJV
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. COLOSIANS 1:19-20

C-Being rescued from our sin by Jesus is the ONLY way we can have forgiveness and eternal life.

There is no other way we can be saved than through Him
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 10:10 NKJV
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
John 16:6 NKJV
6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
CONCLUSION Say: “The God of the universe has made His forgiveness available to you, but it is not automatic. You can begin a love relationship with Jesus that lasts forever—if you will surrender your life to Him.”
Go through the ABCs of following Jesus and invite people to give their lives to Him. Remind everyone that this week during VBS, kids are going to be learning all about the amazing plan the Creator has for their lives. At the conclusion of your service, be sure to bring your congregation together to pray for your VBS volunteers, the children/youth/adults attending VBS, and every family that will be touched by your VBS ministry.
