Isaiah 7:9 HCSB
the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all.

Watch out for “Faith-Stealers

Isaiah 7:1–2 HCSB
This took place during the reign of Ahaz, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah king of Judah: Rezin king of Aram, along with Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, waged war against Jerusalem, but he could not succeed. When it became known to the house of David that Aram had occupied Ephraim, the heart of Ahaz and the hearts of his people trembled like trees of a forest shaking in the wind.
Isaiah 6 would be somewhere around 740 BC, and Isaiah 7 maybe 5 years later. There were laps in Kings terms of service.. many times the son served as coregent with the father and that would be the case here.

Feed your Faith and not your Fears

Isaiah 7:3–9 HCSB
Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out with your son Shear-jashub to meet Ahaz at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, by the road to the Fuller’s Field. Say to him: Calm down and be quiet. Don’t be afraid or cowardly because of these two smoldering stubs of firebrands, the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram, and the son of Remaliah. For Aram, along with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has plotted harm against you. They say, ‘Let us go up against Judah, terrorize it, and conquer it for ourselves. Then we can install Tabeel’s son as king in it.’ ” This is what the Lord God says: It will not happen; it will not occur. The head of Aram is Damascus, the head of Damascus is Rezin (within 65 years Ephraim will be too shattered to be a people), the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all.
You may have the short view but you must trust that God has the long view.

Don’t shroud disobedience in “spiritual” terms

Isaiah 7:10–13 HCSB
Then the Lord spoke again to Ahaz: “Ask for a sign from the Lord your God—from the depths of Sheol to the heights of heaven.” But Ahaz replied, “I will not ask. I will not test the Lord.” Isaiah said, “Listen, house of David! Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men? Will you also try the patience of my God?
We can get so spiritual sometimes in the way we explain things.
“God wants me to live unmarried with this man so I can win him to the Lord.”
“God has given me this work, so I must constantly miss worshipping Him.”
“God has given me my family and so I must spend time with them that takes me away from serving Him.”
Sometimes the language we use sounds so spiritual we will have to back slide to line up with God’s Word.

Rest Completely in Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14 HCSB
Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel.
The greatest need of any person’s life is to know that God is WITH THEM.
A Single meaning with a double significance.
Immediate: A girl who was a virgin until she conceived would have a son. Before that son was a teenager, the threat of these nations would be eliminated.
Matthew 1:23 HCSB
See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name Him Immanuel, which is translated “God is with us.”
The Long view: Jesus would be God with us.
Have you ever placed your trust in him for salvation?
What are you going through right now that is stealing your faith?
God can handle your problems.
